Creating great habits! So, I am probably not the only one that recognizes a need for continual growth and change even as an adult (otherwise New Years Resolutions and self help books wouldn't be a thing) but my kiddo said something yesterday that caught me by surprise. Although it probably shouldn't have.

I was "helping her" clean up her closet (she's 5 so this is a nearly daily activity) and asked why she leaves so many clothes on the floor every day instead of putting them back when she chooses something else and she said "Because I never had laundry lessons Mommy. Is there somewhere I can get laundry lessons?"

First 🤣. It took everything I had not to laugh. But really, she's right. So much of what we do in a day can be made easier, more eco-friendly or even just possible if we take the time to "get some lessons" and teach ourselves new habits.

So, while my daughter is hanging out with my mom getting her "laundry lessons", I will be working on building a morning yoga practice. Do you wish for a new habit that would improve your daily life?

Is it in you to feel bliss today? I was at yoga yesterday afternoon ( - LOVE THIS PLACE!) and near the end of class Kylie asked if it was in our practice to feel bliss right now. At the end of a Yang / Yin yoga session, I absolutely did feel bliss and I decided to feel bliss more often. Obviously, more yoga helps, but what would it take for you to feel bliss today? And if it's not attainable today, what could you do today to get closer to your bliss?

What is the biggest benefit for people who use hair bars?

Let's start with why we buy in the first place. For many, it's purely a desire to live more sustainably. For some, it's the cleaner ingredients. And for others, it's supporting small businesses, buying handmade and/or buying local. While you get all of these benefits, what a lot of people don't realize, is there is another huge benefit.

Many people look at this photo and think of it as the goal, and maybe it sort of is. In a world where I don't own the big plastic wide-tooth comb that I bought in my 1st year of university (a VERY long time ago 😉) or where you wouldn't have to throw out a perfectly good "free gift" cosmetics bag in order to buy a more eco-friendly one. But the reality is that the act of replacing everything before you need to causes more harm that good.

So what do we do? Well, when that 27 year old comb breaks, you buy a new one made of a more sustainable material for sure. And maybe you start with consumables. Things we have to buy over and over again, even though they are often small, can make such a big impact.

Here are a couple of ways I've found to reduce the waste we bring into the bathroom:

- refill and bulk stores - bring your empty bottle or jar or bucket or whatever you have, and fill it up with what you need (think tooth tabs, deoderant, bath salts, cleaning products)

- cornsilk or silk floss
- bamboo toothbrushes
- reusable "cotton" swabs
- reusable cotton or bamboo rounds
- shampoo and conditioner bars (you had to know I'd mention these 😀)
