Braiding hair has always been more than just doing hair to me. It’s one of the few things that quiets my mind completely.

It became a form of therapy, a space where I can create, breathe, connect, and pour love into people while also grounding myself at the same time.

Maaaan let me tell you.. that teacher was no joke when it came to teaching our class.

I remember a specific time, learning “visible braids” & I could’ve sworn if they were any tighter I would’ve ripped the mannequins hair out.. Then she comes and tells me, “take it out and do it again, the nape of the neck isn’t tight enough..”

First year I didn’t think I would last in her class.. by the 12th grade, I respected her and enjoyed her class more than any other.

Shoutout to Mrs.A for being hard on us.. I been a full time braid artist for 6 years and would say she was a huge part of the reason I made this happen.
