I wanted to share this beautiful masterpiece from one of the many spiders who make a home on my deck every year. This one decided to spin a web between the chimes. Much respect little spider. ๐ธ๏ธ๐ฌ๏ธ๐ถ๐ท๏ธ

Eastern grey squirrel (the black coat is a result of extra melanin - a mutation in genetics) hanging out in my backyard on this rainy April morning. The Eastern grey isnโt a native species to BC, and is classified as โinvasive. As cute as the greys are, I wish I saw more red and Douglas squirrels in my neighbourhood (both native to our area).

I get asked often if I grow my own herbs. Some, yes, in small quantities (I just donโt have enough land to do this, though).
This is one of the main places I order my herbs from to make tea blends for all of you lovely folks. Theyโre organic and they have a high standard for their operations; both of which are super important to me. Check out their blog, podcast and sign up for their newsletter; they have loads of free information. ๐ซ
Here at Mountain Rose Herbs, we have always believed it is important to remain independently owned to serve the wellness needs of our community instead of the financial needs of shareholders. But in the last few years, the majority of herbal companies that we have known for decades have been acquired by private equity firms, investment holdings, and venture capitalists. Our herbal business community has gotten smaller, and the industry is pushing toward a profit-driven model.
In the current environment, we are more committed than ever to remain staunchly independent and run by human beings who care. Our commitment to independence is one of the reasons we work closely with The Cornucopia Institute. This nonprofit consumer education organization researches brands and investigates the agricultural industry to identify and elevate authentic organic foods and farmers. As part of their mission, they maintain a list of nationally available, organic, independently owned brands so that conscious consumers like you know who and what your dollars support.
To help amplify this message, we are now including Cornucopia's helpful list in your next Mountain Rose Herbs order! May we weave a web of conscious consumers and ethical businesses to create a sustainable future for our industry.
