Giving homecare advice allows massage therapists to enhance the impact of their treatments by having the patient perform stretching and strengthening exercises and hydrotherapy treatments at home throughout the week. This helps maintain and further the impact of the treatment and prolong symptomatic relief after the massage.
Massage therapists are trying to compete with overuse injuries, postural habits and some other factors out of the control of the patient or therapist. With the average worker spending 38.6 hours per week at work, and the average massage session being only 1 hour, homecare is a necesssary part in most treatment plans to level the playing field and help the patient reach their goals sooner.
