Today feels different. It’s late in the day, but I’ve just been sitting here reflecting… 10 years of doing hair, 8 years of MKRoots. And when I really think about it, it doesn’t even feel real.

From doing hair in my living room… to taking over my second bedroom… to packing up and moving cities with nothing but a vision… to my first suite, then another, and another… to building something I was so proud of, watching it grow… and then losing it all in a fire.

That part still feels unreal sometimes.

But somehow, by the grace of God, by resilience, by pure faith and determination… we rebuilt. And not just rebuilt… we came back stronger, better, more aligned. MK Roots 2.0.

There were so many moments behind the scenes that nobody saw. The doubts, the exhaustion, the pressure, the tears… the times I questioned if I could keep going. But something in me just wouldn’t let me quit.

And now I’m here.

Looking at everything we’ve built, everything we’ve overcome… and I just feel grateful. Truly.

To every single person who has supported me from day one, who trusted me with their hair, who spoke my name in rooms I wasn’t in, who showed love in any way… thank you. You are a part of this journey. You are a part of this story. And I will never take that for granted.

This is more than hair for me. This is purpose. This is legacy. This is something I built with my own hands, from nothing, and watched it become something real.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned through all of this, it’s that you don’t give up on your dreams. You don’t stop when it gets hard. You push, you pray, you pivot… and you keep going.
