A liner replacement takes a few weeks from order to installation. Manufacturers are busy in spring, and lead times stretch when the season is in full swing.
Fall gives you the time to decide without the pressure. If your liner has been showing wear, fading along the seam lines, lifting at the edges, or dropping water it shouldn't be losing, this is the season to get ahead of it.
Book for spring. Order now and the liner goes in clean before the water is back. More on liner options and inspection scheduling at pfpools.com.

Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at People for Pools.
October 12th in a GTA backyard looks a little different this year: the pool is closed, the cover is on, and the yard is settling into fall.
We are grateful for every family we got to spend pool season with. Enjoy the long weekend. We will be back Tuesday.

The fall-to-spring period is not a long time in pool construction. A consultation in October, a design finalized by November, permits submitted by December, lands a build slot on the spring calendar before the homeowners who call in March.
The timeline is real and it runs whether you are in it or not. The consultation is where it starts. Book yours at pfpools.com.

Once the cover goes on, the work underneath it still matters.
A properly fitted safety cover blocks light and debris, but what protects the pool over a GTA winter is everything that happened before it went on. Plumbing lines fully blown out and cleared. Winter plugs seated in every return. The filtration equipment shut down correctly so freeze-thaw cycles have nothing to crack.
A cover that looks secure from the outside can still sit over a plumbing system that wasn't winterized properly. That's where spring surprises come from.

Homeowners who are swimming in a new pool next June almost always started the process the previous fall.
Design, permitting, and scheduling all move faster when there is no seasonal deadline pushing the timeline. September and October consultations get first pick of build slots for next spring, before the calendar fills with homeowners who waited until March.
If a new pool or a major backyard renovation has been on your mind, this is the quiet window to start the conversation, not the rushed one. Free consultation at pfpools.com.
Closing week looks different behind the scenes. Chemistry balanced. Water lowered. Lines cleared. Cover anchored down tight.
It is quick when it is done right, and it is the last thing standing between your pool and a GTA winter. Full closing service at pfpools.com.

A pool pump left with even a small amount of water inside will crack the first hard freeze. So will a filter housing, a heater, and any exposed length of pipe.
The GTA freeze-thaw cycle is hard on equipment that was not fully drained, and a cracked pump housing is not a small repair come spring. Winterizing properly means draining every component, not just covering the pool and walking away.
If your equipment has not been serviced in a few seasons, closing week is the time to have it checked. Closing and equipment service at pfpools.com.

Mesh and solid safety covers both meet the same safety standard, but they behave differently over a GTA winter.
Mesh covers let melting snow and rain pass through, so they carry less weight but let some sunlight through, which can encourage algae at the edges. Solid covers block light completely and keep the pool darker through winter, but they hold standing water on top and need a cover pump.
Neither is wrong. The right choice depends on how much tree cover your yard has and how hands-on you want to be over winter. Cover options at pfpools.com.

A professional pool closing is not just draping a cover over the water.
It is three steps done in order: lower the water and clear the lines, protect the plumbing from freeze damage, and anchor a cover that is actually sized to fit. Skip a step, or rush it before a hard frost, and the fix in April usually costs more than the closing would have.
If you are booking your own closing or hiring it out this year, this is the sequence worth getting right. Full closing service details at pfpools.com.

New pool construction does not pause for cold weather.
Excavation, plumbing rough-in, and structural work can proceed through fall in the GTA, and starting now means a completed shell ready for spring finishing and an early opening next season.
Permit applications and design approvals take weeks, and that clock is running regardless of when the ground freezes.
Homeowners who have been considering a new build are in the right window to start the consultation now, while fall start dates are still open. Book a consultation at pfpools.com.
