Datura (Datura spp) is one of the night's most dangerous plants — also known as moonflower, devil's w**d, and hell's bells.

Special Datura Facts:

🌸 Blooms only at night
🧙 Used by medieval witches in "flying ointments"
🌿 Part of the nightshade family (hello, tomatoes & potatoes!)
📜 Featured in ancient Ta***ic Buddhist control rituals
☠️ Used by the Aztecs for divination and sorcery

Mary Delany (1700–1788) 🌹 Collage Artist

English artist Mary Delany constructed botanical collages so intricate, they’re often mistaken for painted illustrations. The time, patience, and handcrafted precision her work demands is something we will always revere.

This Pride Month, we also honour the queerness of her history — the intimate, creative, lifelong bond between Mary Delany and the Duchess of Portland. Their relationship is interpreted by many scholars as a deep, loving partnership that flourished outside heterosexual convention.

🌸🌸 Inspiration d’Art Floral 🌸🌸

Mary Delany (1700–1788) 🌹 Artiste du Collage

L’artiste anglaise Mary Delany a réalisé des collages botaniques si minutieux qu’ils sont souvent confondus avec des illustrations peintes. Le temps, la patience et la précision artisanale que son œuvre exige sont des choses que nous vénérerons toujours.

En ce Mois des Fiertés, nous honorons également la queerness de son histoire — le lien intime, créatif et durable entre Mary Delany et la Duchesse de Portland. Leur relation est interprétée par de nombreux chercheurs comme un partenariat profond et aimant qui s’est épanoui en dehors des conventions hétérosexuelles.

Tonight’s complementary party beverages! 🌸

We’re celebrating la Fête des Fleurs from 5-9pm! Come sip on something sweet, participate in our community enfleurage demonstration, and receive a sweet scented token.

🍓 Strawberry Woodruff Syrup

Ingredients:

1 carton of sliced strawberries (454g)
1 tablespoon of dried, sweet woodruff
2 cups of sugar
2 cups of water

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a pot.

Bring to a boil, then turn down to a simmer until the liquid reduces by half. Make sure to stir often!

Let the syrup cool and strain.

Enjoy your syrup with some soda water, adjusting to your level of sweet tooth!

🍷 May Wine Spritzer

Ingredients:

1 bottle of white wine (fruity, dry)
1 carton of sliced strawberries (454g)
1 tablespoon of dried, sweet woodruff in a tea sachet

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a large container, and let infuse in the fridge for 24 hours.

After 24 hours, remove the sweet woodruff sachet.

Serve as a spritzer with 2 parts May Wine, 1 part soda water. Enjoy!
