Here's what I see constantly: a client comes in, their skin feels tight and uncomfortable, and they've been layering heavy moisturizers thinking that's the answer.
But when I ask the right questions, how your skin feels at different times of day, what happens when you apply water versus oil, the picture becomes clear.
Dehydrated skin isn't about your skin type. It's a condition. It means your skin barrier isn't holding water properly. You could have oily skin and still be dehydrated. You could have combination skin and be dehydrated in some areas and not others.
Dry skin? That's different. That's literally your skin type, it's how you're built. Your skin naturally produces less sebum.
The reason this matters so much is because the fix is completely different. If you have dehydrated skin and you keep piling on heavy creams, you're not addressing the actual problem. Your skin stays uncomfortable. You get frustrated. Nothing seems to work.
