Thank you for your
ongoing support.
I'm blessed to have you in my life.
This is the time of year when I always pause and reflect on the year that was. While doing so, I looked back at a few things I've sent out at year end, and this from a few years ago really caught my attention as I think I totally nailed it!
We should all try to treat ourselves like a good friend we love and are concerned about.
Take the time to go for a walk.
Make sure to talk to your doctor about that nagging health concern.
Give yourself a little treat now and then.
Eat your veggies.
Use a dab of scent in the morning.
Don't exhaust yourself worrying about worst-case scenarios.
Open that wonderful balsamic vinegar from the gourmet store and use it on your salad tonight!
Take the time to do something fun, something that gives you pleasure.
Say something nice to yourself in the mirror in the morning.
Don't put good stuff off.
Embrace positivity.
As I always say, "health is wealth" and so please, take good care of yourself - as friends, family, clients, business contacts and sometimes all of the above - you're super important to me and you play a huge role in my life. And I want to keep it that way.
I wanted to send special thanks to all my clients who followed me to my new, cozy one-woman shop at 833 Carnarvon, just four doors up the street from my old salon. It's so nice to have my own space again - I had forgotten how much I love that. And judging by the fact that I was totally booked up leading to Christmas, (and my January appointment book is already filling up!) lots of my beloved customers feel the same way, so thank you for your continued and ongoing support.
Thank you also for being organized and booking your appointments in advance so I can organize my time well. Because there is only me, I don't have the capacity to squeeze people in, and I really appreciate you understanding that.
To people who donated gift cards for needy Seniors, thank you so much for your generosity and thoughtfulness. The Seniors Bureau have picked up all the cards, and they will be brightening up a lot of Christmases for people who have very little.

2024 has been a year with some ups and downs, but with your ongoing support, I'm blessed to continue to do the work that I love for the clients I really value. Thank you.
Here's to a happy, healthy, and satisfying 2025. If you want to book an appointment for 2025, please call or text me at 604-916-6945.
With much love and hugs,
Lorna Stewart. #2024

I'm still collecting gift cards for needy Seniors.
If you'd like to brighten the Christmas of someone, I'm happy to help.
I'm delighted to report that many people have brought in gift cards to add to my little red treasure box, for needy Seniors. Every year, the Seniors Service Society of BC organizes donations from the community for Seniors, many of whom would otherwise have nothing special at Christmas.
The Seniors Bureau say their clients appreciate gift cards for everything from groceries and department store items to movies, restaurants and coffee shops. Customers have brought in lots of cards so far, but there is always room (and need) for more, so if you'd like to take part, please give me a ring and we can arrange for you to bring your gift cards in to me at my new location, at 833 Carnarvon, just four doors up the street from my old location.
Christmas is two weeks less a day away and Bureau volunteers are stopping by on December 20 to collect cards, so if you want to take part, please keep that date in mind.
As mentioned previously I'm selling gift certificates for hair services, so why not consider the gift of a new hair style - or a colour or a trim or a conditioning treatment. That plus a lovely bottle of something nice and you've got an affordable indulgence for someone special in your life.
I'm all booked up for 2024, but give me a jingle if you want to spruce up your look in the new year. To make an appointment, call or text me at 604-916-6945! I look forward to seeing you at my lovely, cozy new location at 833 Carnarvon St.
With much love and hugs,
Lorna Stewart.

People have been asking me if I'm collecting gifts for seniors in our community again this year. Because my new place is so small, I don't have room to collect gifts as in years past, but I have got this little red treasure box that is perfect for collecting gift cards, which make excellent gifts.
The Seniors Bureau say their clients appreciate gift certificates for everything from groceries and department store items to movies theatres, restaurants and coffee shops. They also tell us that for many of their clients, these are the only gifts they receive at Christmas. So, if you'd like to take part in this very worthy cause, I'd be honoured to collect gift cards to be distributed through the Seniors Service Society of BC.

As you might remember, I sold my Salon last year, and after many years of working in my own business, I rented a chair from the new owner and worked there as she evolved things to suit herself.
What the experience taught me is that I really prefer to have my own space to work in; I'm most comfortable in an environment that I create.
I stayed at my old business for over a year and shared with the new owner my tips and tricks for doing things, but I've taught her everything I can, and so when an opportunity came to set up in my own space again, I decided to go for it!
Essence Hair Design - aka ME, Lorna Stewart - Has moved November 1 to a single-stylist spot that is literally four doors up the street, at 833 Carnarvon St, right on the corner before where the brand-new high-rise building is located.
The space I'm moving to is small, cozy and private, where I can see clients one-on-one and create the calm oasis that I love and that I think customers appreciate.
I can hardly wait to see you!
To make an appointment, call or text me at 604-916-6945!
Oh, I'm already taking bookings for the Christmas season, so please give me a call to get an appointment if you want hair services before the holidays. And to everyone who has already booked a time, THANK YOU for being so well organized! It really helps me, and I really appreciate it.
With much love and hugs,
Lorna Stewart.

Boston Marathon recap: Run and done ✔️ Challenging course and nasty weather, it was not my best race, but what an adventure and a crazy few days on the east coast. Loved the city, loved the people and the race. Glad to have participated and proud to call myself a Boston Marathon finisher!
04/08/2023
I wanted to post a huge thank-you to all the people who have supported me along the way and encouraged me, enabling me to pursue this huge milestone in marathon racing. A week from today I will be in Boston, with my new friend Neli who I am so fortunate to have connected with and get to experience the Boston Marathon with.
For anyone interested in tracking me, you can download the Boston Marathon app to your phone and see where I am on the course and what my predicted finish time will be based on my current pace. The Marathon takes place next Monday, April 17th. My start time is 10:50am, which is 7:50am Vancouver time and my goal is a sub 3:45:00 finish.
Although running is a very individual sport, it takes a village of support to get an athlete to the race. I am grateful to my boss Lorna for allowing me some real flexibility in my work schedule and for all the staff, friends and clients of Essence Hair for so much support and encouragement.
To all my friends who have joined me for so many training runs, and friends who’ve listened with genuine care to my ravings and ramblings and rants, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Every single person who has wished me luck and liked my posts, etc., I appreciate you! I am feeling very well prepared, mentally, spiritually and physically to take on race day! I look forward to the entire trip, and of course will post a wrap-up after I’m home. Much love and appreciation for being able to take part in the 127th running of the Boston Marathon
Sincerely, Amy.

Two years ago, our world lost a little bit of sparkle with the passing of Joanne Delesalle
Joanne was not a hair stylist, but she made an impact on Essence Hair Studio as the salon evolved and we moved locations. Standing 5’1” in heels and always well groomed, she was a small blonde dynamo with a big personality at the front of the house. She knew the business and our customers well enough that when Lorna needed to be away, Joanne could be counted on to open and close the Salon, take care of banking chores and manage the reception area so the stylists could get on with making our clients look great.
In addition to being a long-time part-time Essence staffer, Joanne was also a really great friend and travelling companion of Lorna Stewart. Rumour has it that they got up to some Epic Shenanigans over the years!
Rest in peace Joanne, we really miss you!
