Essence of Bitter Earth

Today I had the honour of attending the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People awareness event at the Kiwanis Bandshell in North Bay.

Thank you to .citycouncillor for inviting me out to witness, listen, and stand in solidarity with the community today. It was a powerful and emotional gathering, and I’m grateful I had the opportunity to be present.

As a Black woman, a mother, and the founder of Essence of Bitter Earth, I showed up today as an ally, with respect for Indigenous women, families, survivors, and communities who continue to carry grief, strength, and truth.

Today was a reminder that remembrance is not just a moment, it is a responsibility.

I was also interviewed by CTV News alongside my friend , and the segment is expected to air in CTV Northern Ontario tonight at 5 PM.

May the women, girls, and Two-Spirit people who have been taken never be forgotten. May their families continue to be held in love, justice, and community.
