We climbed massive stone steps to our seats — the same stones spectators sat on centuries ago. It was scorching, and everyone had their fans going full tilt, but the atmosphere was electric. I booked these tickets months ago, and it was worth every second to see Verdi’s masterpiece come to life in such a magical setting.

The music, the drama, the history — you could feel it in the air.
