Here’s why you shouldn’t buy curly hair products based on reviews…

This isn’t a “never” situation, there are times when reviews CAN be helpful under right circumstances…

But generally speaking, reviews can be very biased, subjective and just downright misleading👎🏽

Let me explain…

There are MANY variables that come into play when it comes to products such as

👉🏽 Individual Curl Context
Porosity
Hydration levels
Density, etc

These all factor in to the outcome of a style and are based on genetics

👉🏽 Starting point of the hair
We’re all at different stages with our hair. Some transitioning from heat damage, some growing out relaxers, some with colour treated hair and so on. All play a key role in the outcome of any style

👉🏽 USAGE. (This is a big one)
Not everyone uses their products in the same way, or even in the right way. So product reviews can really only be taken into consideration IF it was applied properly

…These are just a few reasons why reviews are not always it

So what can you do instead?

1️⃣ Seek a professional
Try to tune out the noise of reviews and get advise from a professional. We use products all the time on all different kinds of hair - so our eyes (and hands) are trained to know what will or won’t work for YOUR curls

2️⃣ If you HAVE to read reviews… take time to weigh your options and consider several reviews for each product before making a decision. Consider the different curl types and contexts that each review is coming from

3️⃣ Invest in curl coaching services to help understand what’s best for your specific needs and context. Curly hair is not a one-size-fits-all, so it’s important to work with someone who can help get you from where you are 👉🏽 to where you want to be

When in the drying phase of your wash n’ go, there should be very minimal touching of your curls… You’re going to want to leave that microfibre towel 🧖🏽‍♀️ alone once you’re done scrunching your curls…

Lastly…

3️⃣ Don’t misuse your diffuser 💨.

Diffusing your curls is an excellent way to add volume 🔈to your curls… but ONLY if you know how to use it properly and strategically…

This means minimal movement and knowing the right heat and air flow settings for your desired outcome

…(high heat = more frizz!)⛔️
