😍 One of my favorites! Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) root ❤️

Hand dug with love from a chemical free yard!
All of my products are made with care and intention, using home-grown or forged plants

👉🏼Supports liver function and digestion.
This plant is especially high in antioxidants, such as beta-carotene, polyphenols, coumarins and hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives — which may account for its many potent health benefits since this allows it to fight free radicals.

Dont underestimate the power of this amazing "w**d" 😊

Grown organically in my yard!

Yellow Dock root is perhaps best known in the west as a bitter tonic that can evoke a more rhythmic and efficient peristalsis, helping move the bowels. Dock doesn’t force its rhythms on the body; it subtly tunes your internal instruments so that your intestines and bowels can move in a more rhythmic way.

A decoction of Yellow Dock root to treat lung and respiratory disorders, including cough, cold, and throat aches, and hemorrhaging in the lung has been used by the Indigenous people for thousands of yrs.

To understand why a digestive, laxative herb would have a powerful impact on the respiratory system, you would need to understand the way those two systems are related.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offers us a holistic view of understanding the patterns of the body. In TCM, the Lung and the Large Intestine are paired. These two organs are interdependent and enforce each other. When you tonify the digestive and elimination system, you also tonify the respiratory system.

There are countless great ways to add nettles to your diet. Nettle leaf is a powerhouse of nutrients, packed with vitamins and minerals. It’s also rich in protein, iron, calcium, and magnesium, helping support healthy blood and strong bones.

Nettles may help ease conditions like rheumatism and gout by promoting the elimination of uric acid. As a natural antihistamine, they can also help relieve seasonal allergies. With anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine, and diuretic properties, nettles act as a deeply nourishing, mineral-rich tonic for the whole body—something you can truly feel when you incorporate them into your routine.

Now is the perfect time to harvest the fresh spring tips. They are so beautiful with the purple hue against the light green 😍
All parts of the plant including the roots are beneficial but during this season I will focus on the leaves!

I haven't decided yet how I want to use them but stay tuned!

🌱 Ni****ne has complex effects, often showing anti-inflammatory properties by activating specific receptors (α7nAChR) and pathways (cholinergic) that suppress pro-inflammatory cytokines, beneficial in conditions like arthritis or ulcerative colitis.

🌱 Researchers and doctors have shown it cures over 500 different diseases and reverses long-COVID symptoms.

🌱Modulates Immune Cells: It can regulate lymphocytes, macrophages, and other immune cells, influencing cytokine (inflammatory messenger) release.

🌱Engages the Vagus Nerve: It triggers the body’s natural anti-inflammatory reflex (the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway).

This year I will be growing Nicotina Tabacum! She is beautiful 😍
I am excited to have it available for purchase this fall in my apothacary!

Healing balm! If you don’t have a jar, you need one—seriously, this stuff is amazing. 💫

Today, while changing my daughter’s bike tire, I got stung on the finger by a very large hornet. It hurt like crazy—burning like you wouldn’t believe. I ran inside, grabbed the salve, and got instant relief. It even stopped the swelling in its tracks!

I never leave home without this balm. It’s my go-to, all-purpose lifesaver—great for drawing out stingers and poison, soothing cuts and scrapes, working wonders on burns, helping with dry, chapped, cracked hands/cuticles, and even helping with patches of very dry skin, and skin irritations.

Honestly, this stuff has saved me so many times. I’ve got stories just ask 🤣

Limited quantities left, I reccomend getting it now before they are gone!

Catnip (Nepeta cataria) 🌱

Sleep and Anxiety - Catnip acts as a mild nervine and sedative, helping to relieve insomnia, nervousness, and chronic stress.

Digestive Support- Its antispasmodic and carminative properties soothe indigestion, gas, bloating, and cramps.

Pain and Cold Relief- Traditionally used to alleviate headaches, menstrual cramps, and symptoms of colds or fevers through its diaphoretic (sweat-inducing) effects.

*Always do your own research, and ask your doctor. Not intended as medical advice.

*Pregnancy- Catnip should not be used by pregnant women as it can stimulate uterine contractions.

*Side Effects: Common side effects include drowsiness, which is ideal for bedtime but problematic for daytime activities. It might increase the effects of other sedatives and shohldnt be taken for 2 weeks prior to any surgery.

As an Herbalist I’ve learned if it’s been marked “invasive” it’s most likely a medicinal plant.

A lot of what we call “w**ds” are just plants doing their job, we just forgot what that job was!

Here’s a list of many you’re probably walking past every day:

Mullein – respiratory support, coughs, lung health

Purple Dead Nettle – inflammation, allergies, wound support

Dandelion – liver support, digestion, natural diuretic

Plantain (broadleaf) – bug bites, drawing out infection, skin healing

Chickw**d – itchy skin, rashes, cooling herb

Henbit – mild anti-inflammatory, gentle immune support

Yarrow – bleeding control, wound care, fever support

Goldenrod – kidney support, allergy support

Burdock – blood cleansing, skin support, digestion

Wild Lettuce – natural pain support, calming

Red Clover – hormone balance, blood support

Shepherd’s Purse – helps slow bleeding

Lamb’s Quarters – nutrient dense, supports overall health

Purple Violet – lymphatic support, skin soothing

Onion Grass (Wild Garlic) – antibacterial, immune support

Honeysuckle – cough support, calming

Clover (White) – skin soothing, mild detox support

Dock (Curly Dock) – iron rich, supports anemia

Self Heal (Prunella) – wound healing, immune support

Pokew**d (VERY specific use/knowledge needed) – traditional topical use for joint discomfort

Mallow – gut soothing, inflammation support

Ground Ivy (Creeping Charlie) – sinus support, congestion

Queen Anne’s Lace – digestion, urinary support

Spruce Pine Needles – vitamin C rich, immune support (tea)

Sumac (Staghorn) – vitamin C, cooling drink, immune support

Elderberry – immune support, cold/flu season staple

Jewelw**d – poison ivy relief, skin soothing

Black Walnut (hulls) – traditional parasite support, skin uses

Milkw**d (proper prep ONLY) – traditional food/uses when prepared correctly

Thistle – liver support (same family as milk thistle)

Amaranth (Pigw**d) – nutrient dense, mineral rich

And that’s just scratching the surface! 😆

Most of these are labeled “nuisance plants” but if you pay attention to your surroundings you will notice these "w**ds" pop up when your body can use them. 😉 Nature is so cool!

Just a little reminder that a lot of what we might need has been growing around us the whole time. 😊
Get out! Go forge!
