What is Hot Bamboo Massage?

Hot bamboo massage is a deep, warming massage technique where smooth bamboo sticks are used as an extension of the therapist’s hands. It’s often described as a blend of Swedish/deep-tissue massage and rolling/compression techniques, with the warmth of the bamboo adding a very relaxing component.

🎋 What happens during a hot bamboo massage?

The therapist uses different sizes of bamboo tools to:

* Roll and glide over large muscle groups
* Apply broad compression without putting as much strain on the therapist’s hands
* Work into areas of muscular tension with controlled pressure
* Use smaller bamboo pieces for more focused work
* Combine bamboo strokes with traditional hands-on massage
* Incorporate warmth to encourage relaxation and make deeper work feel more comfortable

The bamboo is generally warmed rather than extremely hot, like a hot stone.

I fondly remember how the two months of summer felt like the longest time of my life!

Cottage time, swimming in the backyard, thether ball, hours in the forest, ZimZam (I think that was the name) biking, Dorions’s penny candy, Ralph Street Park… all of it.
