Following new recommendations from the Public Health Department and my College, we have decided the safest course of action at this stage is to close the clinic for the next week. We will be evaluating on a week to week basis as as new regulations are developing rapidly. It is our responsibility as community members and healthcare providers to help our city lessen the curve and participate in the social distancing as much as possible.

I will continue to keep you all updated on when the doors to the clinic will re-open and I will be contacting patients to reschedule their current appointments.

I appreciate your understanding during this time and hope you all stay safe and healthy!

Myotonics or active releases are one of favourite techniques to use. Especially on patients who are finding it difficult to relieve their muscle tension through stretch. These techniques work by pinning the muscle against the bone structure while simultaneously bringing the muscle through its full range of motion. Sound intense? It can be, but its effective in releasing unwanted tension and discomfort in the muscle and surrounding joints. Visit angelahopper.clinicsense.com to book now!

Are you experiencing neck discomfort, tightness and or headaches? Do you feel like your neck muscles are tired and achy but you’ve never had an injury?

What you're most likely experiencing is Upper Cross Syndrome. This is a type of postural dysfunction which is usually due to looking down at your phone, sitting at a desk for long periods of time, slumping over when driving and or sitting on the couch watching Netflix. Luckily, Upper Cross Syndrome is not something that has to be permanent; through therapeutic massage treatment, postural education/reminders and remedial exercise I can get you on a path of relief! There are countless benefits to a therapeutic massage other than just relieving tension in our soft tissues. Here are some benefits which can greatly increase your general health and wellbeing;

1. Increased range of motion which leads to decreased stiffness
2. Increased joint nutrition
3. Stimulates lymphatic drainage which carries metabolic waste products away from internal organs and muscles.
4. Promotes local circulation which transports nutrients and oxygen to the tissue in turn triggering a healing response.
5. Decreased sympathetic nervous system firing (our bodies fight or flight response to stress)
6. Decreased levels of cortisol hormone which is released when we are stressed.
7. Boosts the release of endorphins (pain-killing hormones) which stimulates and increases the levels of serotonin and dopamine in the body. Here is an article that explains these two hormones and their functions in more detail https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/326090.php
8. Due to the points above, massage therapy can decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression.
