On this day, exactly 12 years ago, I said goodbye to my parents and loved ones, picked up a small suitcase, and began a journey to a faraway country on the other side of the globe. I was 25 then — filled with excitement and anticipation, mixed with a little uncertainty and hesitation about a future that had not yet taken shape.

I arrived in Canada on a freezing winter night. Stepping out of the airport, I was met with quiet streets and snow blanketing every corner. In that bone-chilling cold, my heart strangely warmed when I reunited with my now husband and my sister-in-law’s family. A new journey officially began…

During that first month in a foreign land, every morning my mind was filled with shrimp, crabs, snails, frogs… and all kinds of delicious Vietnamese dishes. I even missed the salty taste of the sea. There were moments when I truly wondered: who am I, and where on earth am I? 🤣🤣🤣

Time passed quietly — Spring gave way to Summer, then Fall, then Winter, and soon another Spring came around. Gradually, things became clearer: new friends, new relationships, a job to commit to, and life milestones that every woman eventually experiences 🙂.

There were times when I still agonized over the final destination of my life, still haunted by a lingering, unanswered question: should I stay, or should I go?

Those days were truly not easy. But then I realized that perhaps there’s no need to worry too much about tomorrow. What matters is knowing how to cherish and be happy in the present, right where I stand; doing what I love and pursuing my own plans. As for tomorrow, let the future answer in its own time ❤️.

As I write down these memories now, my heart is filled with gratitude for everything I have. Thank you, Canada — beautiful country — for marking such a beautiful chapter of my youth ❤️❤️❤️
