I promise you, it’s not that complicated.

Perimenopause “hacks” are all over the place right now making it sound like an all or nothing game to optimize your life and your hormones.

Here’s the thing, perimenopause happens and how we support ourself doesn’t need to be complicated or supplement and potion filled.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed here are three simple tips to help you move through this part of life with a bit more ease.

1. Move - find a way that you enjoy moving. If you don’t know where to start with walking, yup just walking. Figure out if you like solo movement or community movement and then test it out.

2. Fibre! Explore legumes, greens, whole grains. Test out new recipes, new veggies, new fruits. Explore and see what you enjoy and are happy to add more of into your life. Fibre helps to keep you full, regular and regulate blood sugars. Aim for 25-35g a day.

3. You’ve heard it before…protein! Make sure you’re eating enough protein to protect the muscle you have and hopefully help create more muscle. Aim for 20-40g a meal.

That’s it. Start here, work on making these things consistent before you add more onto your plate.

As I predicted back in December of 2025, 2026 would be all about fibre and gut healing. People are slowing down and paying attention to how their bodies feel and they are acting accordingly.

Increasing fibre in my clients’ diet has been at the top of the list, along with ensuring they are getting in adequate and varied protein. So, if you are looking for something easy, that lasts, is filling, high in fibre and protein and actually tastes good till the last mouthful? I got you!

This Greek Style Bean Salad is all of those things and more. Feel free to make it your own by adding grilled chicken or serving it with a leafy salad; no matter how you spin this one, it’s delicious, so be sure to save this recipe for later!

Greek Inspired Bean Salad:

1 can White beans
1 can Chickpeas
1/3 cup Red Onion, diced
1 Red Bell Pepper, diced
1/2 Cucumber, deseeded and chopped
1/3 cup Pitted Kalamata Olives
1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
3 tbsps Lemon Juice
1 tsp Dijon Mustard
1/2 cup Feta Cheese (crumbled)
Sea Salt & Black Pepper (to taste)

Directions:

Ok fine, I’ll hop on the trend, guess it’s 2016.

Lots happened that year! It was my second year as a nutritionist, I was on tv a few times, I saw many friends, I did lots of fun stuff.

Enjoy. #2016

When you’re 21, a doctor is going to tell you that there is nothing you can do to support your skin condition. It is VERY important that you do not listen to them.

Starting very young, you will suffer from eczema, food allergies and additive allergies, some you won’t really be aware of until your mid-20s. It is going to reach peak awful when you’re 20 years old.

Your skin will be so raw. You will have horrible patches all over your face, it will hurt to open your eyes and you will be at risk of skin infections. You will take medication that makes you feel sick and use medicated creams that burn your skin.

Then you will drive so deeply into research that you will eventually go back to school, become a Nutritionist, and help others figure out how to improve their skin health, support their hormones, reduce digestive distress, and live better lives. But more importantly, you will help others by letting them know you believe in them and can relate to their struggles in some way.
