DNA my colours
Learn the colour family you're made from, by a rigorous 3hr analysis. See how riveting you are wearing YOUR colours. The science of colour perception!
"Modern seasons" is a later-in-life passion for me. My background is neuroscience, and i've loved my work in drug regulatory review at Health Canada. PCA (Personal Colour Analysis) combines the power of meaningful problem-solving and analytical thinking, with the pure joy of seeing people become so riveting in their colours. And the fact that people SEE for themselves the effects on their face is a critical aspect of the draw for me.

Such a delicious and fun discussion about dressing up for the holidays, with Christine, Jorunn and Cate. I am listening right now, so many great tidbits for each Season! (And also the opportunity to check out riveting recent posts from both Chrysalis Colour Podcast, and Cate Linden...an embarrassment of riches....
Episode 41: Party Ready for 12 Seasons - Chrysalis Colour For each of the 4 True Season groups, we imagine a woman walking into the party looking beautiful in her colours and ask, How did she do it? In Episode 41: Party Ready for 12 Seasons.

Triple satisfaction with this beauty.
No more messy tangled heap of necklaces on the dresser!
The joy of seeing all my Yang Natural /Soft Summer necklaces together, as striking art (and therefore remembering to wear them, ha!)
The good feeling of buying local, supporting a fabulous Canadian artisan (PrettyandPine, on Etsy, in Hamilton, ON).

Want to get a feel for all 12 colour families/palettes at once? Do it with lipsticks! Voila!
Seriously, being able to compare lippie collections in each season gives such a sense of their qualities eg just look at the smoky depth on the autumn side (left) vs the jellybean juiciness on the spring side (right)......
And as always, it’s nothing to do with any season being better than another. Rather, it’s that one season has lipstick colours that are belonging on you, because they ARE you, while the others will tend to look costume-y.
(This is a messy workup sketch of the clock I intend to create, but I liked it : ) My impulsive original from last year is in the comments)

Another fab CC podcast — this one an excellent, clear overview of the concept of clothing styles that work with YOUR body lines (sister concept to inherent colour palette: 12 colour families, vs 10 image archetypes). The guest is Anna Lazarska, who trained with Rachel Nachmias.
As they say, you suddenly have an idea of what you actually look like. Clothes stop feeling wrong, whether like a costume somehow or just unflattering, and instead feel like they illuminate you. With a few good photo examples
It makes for fun listening!
Episode 19: Image Archetype with Anna Lazarska - Chrysalis Colour What is an image archetype and how does knowing your type lead to your most flattering clothing styles? Listen to a style coach's answer in Episode 19: Image Archetype with Anna Lazarska.

Loving the podcasts that Christine and Jorunn are doing - immensely practical and helpful colour info, in a fun conversation (and ha, the warm musical voices are reason alone to listen!)
This is Ep. 15, hair colour talk (natural nd chemical)for each of the three Winters, and an index to zero in where you want....
Episode 15: Hair Colour for Winters - Chrysalis Colour We discuss natural hair colour for the True, Bright, and Dark Winter type of colouring, and suggestions for chemical colour and what to avoid.

Decided that now is the time to embark on a PCA picture series I’ve been wanting to do for awhile: various pairs of “no makeup” vs “makeup” of me, a Soft Summer. Totally casual pics, to be taken by my bemused husband, under my (sadly otherwise unused) draping lights.
I’ve long admired artful makeup on others, but it was as if that world just had nothing to do with me. The times I’d played with makeup, or had it done, I felt….. alien, like I was wearing a mask. So lip gloss it was, with mascara for those big nights out.
The experience of being draped, 7 years ago now (!), dissolved so many barriers for me. Freeing af 😊 . Among the doorways I stepped into was the power of my seasons colours in makeup. Never artificial feeling, just MORE me.
Turned out that was my missing key: Learning the colours that looked on me like they just blossomed there naturally, rather than an “effect”, no matter how striking. The right lipstick DOES make your skin creamier, your eyes more like jewels.
Thats what I want my clients to experience at their appointment, so we have a no-makeup pic in the chosen luxury drape, then with blush and eyeliner, plus several different lipsticks. All completely non-professional, taken with my old digital camera. I aim to reproduce that experience, using me. More dramatic lipsticks, vs more every day; showing blushes that melt in vs sit on top; and ha, maybe even answer my nagging question: if I were to put on only one of my beloved lipstick, eyeliner or blush, which would it be?! (for those times when 60 seconds is just too onerous, dammit.)
For this announcement post, here is a pic with a dash of lippie, and two of my fave casual SSu scarves (thank you Anna for one of them), and one chunky silver earring.... Funny, the top is such a lovely example of SSu white – but I can see that switching out the round neckline for a gentle v-neck, that echoes my jawline, would enhance the whole picture. Love this world of reasons behind where the magic is!
