As we move into spring and the weather warms up, we often change our modes of movement and activities. Remember if you are starting new activities, or re-starting after a pause, ease back into things. Warm up for 5-10 min using a lighter form of the exercise to get the muscles and joints ready for the work. Start with shorter sessions and build up to your goal distance or time. Don’t forget to take those rest days! If you need a massage for post workout care book in at marymassagetherapy.com
Trying to will spring into existence. At least it’s warm enough for some spring time activities.

Check out this post from Optimal Health for examples to warm up prior to activity.
❓Is warming up before exercise really necessary? And what should you do❓
We’ve always been told we should warm up before exercise, but what does that really mean? A good warm up prepares your body for the sport or activity you are planning to do, and decreases your risk of injury. 🏋️♀️🏃♀️🚴♀️

Hot stones are one of my favourite treatments. Heat is relaxing and can be a very beneficial part to healing. The heat brings in blood and with that extra oxygen and nutrients.
I still have some openings next week 😊
Cold outside? Let us warm you all the way up. 🧣✨
There’s nothing like a Hot Stone Massage in the middle of winter — smooth, heated stones melting away tension while you stay cozy and relaxed from head to toe.
Perfect for chilly muscles, winter stress, and anyone who just needs a little extra warmth right now. 💆♀️🖤
We currently have openings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays — they won’t last long!

Ask your RMT:
What keeps you in the profession?
The calm and peace.
Days can really get hectic, especially this time of year. I do my best to stay on schedule, but sometimes things fall by the wayside and the 15 min between sessions can be a mad dash.
However, as soon as that door closes and I set intention with first contact, usually static contact or compressions, we both take a breath and the world falls away. Everything is left at the door and inside we have a unique moment to forget responsibility of family, the stressful job, chores and errands, everything else can wait.
In this moment we are working on your goals we have set for this session. If it is relaxation, increasing range of motion for an area, reducing extra tension, pain management. This moment is client centred, focused on you and I get to be apart of this amazing opportunity.
Being apart of these moments is what I love about being a massage therapist.

Some of my movements are very intentional and specific goals to reach.
Despite the look on my face I am having so much fun. 😄 Honestly. Trying out some new equipment, testing new limits, just me, weights, my spreadsheets.
I enjoy tracking so I can see where I have been, where I can safely lift more as I prevent injury by going in stages.
This is how I stay strong and prevent being sore from work. 💪
What did your movement look like this week?

What style of massage do you do?
I don’t necessarily stick to a particular type or style of massage. I was trained more with a toolkit of massage techniques. Each of these have different strengths for accomplishing goals such as promoting relaxation, decreasing pain, decreasing symptoms of trigger points etc. Starting with the interview and assessment I start to make the best judgement for tools required to meet your treatment goals.
Of course I do have my favourites, enter muscle stripping using my forearm. I love this technique for promoting general relaxation over a broad area and it also gives me a good feel for what’s going on with the soft tissues a little deeper through.
Everything can be adjusted and mixed up depending on what I find and from client input too. I am aware that I have developed my own kind of style for massage and I am always trying to evolve as I continue to learn and develop my skills.
Easiest way to find out is come in for a massage treatment.
