I joined at 67 for the sisterhood.

Then I fell in love with the products.

Eventually I discovered how much I loved teaching.

WHAT DO I ACTUALLY DO?

After sharing pieces of my 10-year SeneGence story this week, I thought today I’d answer a very practical question:

What does doing SeneGence actually look like?

For me, no two days look exactly the same.

I help women with skincare.

I teach makeup.

I do demonstrations, workshops and Ladies Nights.

I participate in events and fundraisers.

I write blogs and newsletters.

I make videos.

I answer questions.

I follow up with customers.

And yes, I sell products I genuinely use and believe in.

But what I’ve learned over ten years is that there isn’t one way to do this.

My favourite part has become education.

I love helping a woman understand her skin or showing her a makeup technique that suddenly makes things easier.

That’s how Be Ageless with Diana evolved.

But someone else might want something completely different.

Maybe you just love the products and want the discount.

Maybe you’d like some extra income.

Maybe you want something social.

Maybe you’d enjoy sharing products with friends.

Maybe you’d like to build a business.

Or maybe you don’t know what you’d want yet.

That’s okay too.

When I joined at 67, I certainly couldn’t have told you what I’d be doing at 77.

SOMETIMES IT BECOMES BIGGER THAN YOU EXPECTED

Ten years ago, I joined SeneGence for the sisterhood.

Looking back now, I had absolutely no idea just how important the people would become.

I’ve learned about skincare and makeup.

I’ve built a business.

I’ve become a teacher and a leader.

But some of the greatest gifts of these ten years aren’t products at all.

They’re the friendships.

The women I’ve met.

The customers who became friends.

The SeneSisters across Canada I never would have known otherwise.

And the opportunities I’ve had to use my business to give back to my community.

Over the years, I’ve donated products, makeup workshops and Ladies Nights to fundraisers.

I’ve participated in community events.

I’ve volunteered.

And just this past weekend, our Pawprints of Purpose fundraiser for City of Pickering Animal Services raised just over $9.000.

That means a great deal to me.

Because somewhere along the way, something that began with beauty became about community, connection and purpose too.

At 77, that’s a pretty wonderful reason to keep going.

AT 77, I’M STILL GROWING

Ten years ago, at 67, I joined SeneGence for the sisterhood.

I had no idea how much that one decision would eventually change me.

Yes, I learned about skincare and makeup.

I earned certifications.

I learned about colour theory and mature skin.

I learned how to teach and demonstrate products.

But I also learned something much bigger.

Personal growth doesn’t have an expiration date.

Over the past ten years, I’ve become more confident.

I’ve become a leader.

I’ve taught women one-on-one and stood in front of groups.

I’ve done workshops, demonstrations and community events.

And at 77, I’m STILL learning.

I’m creating videos.

I’m writing blogs and newsletters.

I’m building Be Ageless with Diana.

I’m learning new technology, although some days that relationship is a little rocky! 😂

And I continue saying yes to things that the 67-year-old Diana probably never imagined she’d be doing.

That’s why this sentence means so much to me:

SeneGence didn’t just grow my business. It helped grow ME, and at 77, I’m still growing.

That’s something I never expected when I started.

THE PRODUCTS MADE ME A BELIEVER

Ten years ago, I joined SeneGence without any intention of building the business I have today.

I originally joined for the sisterhood.

But then a little sample of Climate Control came with a LipSense purchase.

I tried it.

And I became curious.

I didn’t just want to know WHAT the product did. I wanted to understand WHY.

What was in it?

Why was my skin responding differently?

What products should I use together?

And how could I explain all of this simply to another woman who had the same questions?

That curiosity turned me into a student.

Over the years, I’ve learned about skincare, ingredients, mature skin, makeup and how our needs change as we age.

I’ve earned certifications in both skincare and makeup.

And I’ve had a very convenient mature-skincare model to practise on…

ME.

I was 67 when I started.

I’m 77 today.

And I genuinely believe my skin looks better today than it did ten years ago.

I’m certainly not trying to look 27.

I want to look and feel like the best version of myself at 77.

That’s also why the way I share products has changed over the years.

I don’t want to simply tell a woman, “You need this.”

I want to help her understand her skin, understand her concerns and understand WHY a particular product might help.

I teach first.

That’s how I learned, and that’s how I want to help other women learn too.

The products may have made me a believer, but something else happened along the way.

Learning how to teach other women gave me a confidence I never expected.

And tomorrow, I’ll tell you more about that part of my story.

DIDN’T JOIN SENEGENCE TO START A BUSINESS

The photo I’m sharing today is pretty special to me.

This was my very first selfie in 2016, right around the time I started my SeneGence journey. I was 67.

Looking at it now, I can’t help wondering what I would have thought if someone had told that woman where this journey would take her over the next ten years.

Because here’s the funny part.

I didn’t join SeneGence because I wanted to start a business.

I originally joined for the sisterhood.

I had discovered LipSense and loved the idea of being part of this community of women.

Then something else happened.

With one of my LipSense purchases, I received a sample of Climate Control.

I tried it.

And that little sample changed everything.

I started becoming curious about the skincare. I wanted to understand why these products were making such a difference.

The more I learned, the more interested I became.

And somewhere along the way, what started with LipSense, a skincare sample and a desire for sisterhood became something I never could have predicted.

A business.

A leadership role.

Makeup and skincare certifications.

Teaching and training.

Events and fundraisers.

Friendships.

A community of women I treasure.

And perhaps most unexpectedly…

personal growth.

I joined SeneGence at 67.

I’m 77 today.

And I can tell you that the woman writing this post is not the same woman in that first selfie.

I’ve become more confident.

I’ve learned things I never imagined I’d be learning in my seventies.

I’ve stood in front of rooms and taught women about skincare and makeup.

I’ve built Be Ageless with Diana.

And I’m still learning.

Still teaching.

Still growing.

That’s why something I’ve been saying lately means so much to me:

SeneGence didn’t just grow my business. It helped grow ME, and at 77, I’m still growing.

So this week, I’m going to do something a little different.

Instead of simply showing you products, I’m going to share some pieces of my 10-year SeneGence story.

Not because everyone’s journey will look like mine.

It shouldn’t.

But perhaps something in my story will make another woman think:

Could there be something here for me too?

And the timing couldn’t be better.

method and showed you how a few changes in placement and blending can make eye makeup easier for mature eyes.

Can Mature Eyes Really Wear Shimmer?

After this week’s conversation about eye makeup, I thought we’d tackle a few of the questions women often have about eyeshadow as we get older.

And let’s start with the big one.

Can mature women wear shimmer?

My answer?

Absolutely.

I’m 77 and I wear shimmer. I wear matte. And yes, I even wear glitter.

It’s less about your age and more about placement, application and what makes YOU feel good.

Won’t Shimmer Emphasize Lines?

It can if we put a lot of reflective colour everywhere, but that doesn’t mean we have to avoid it completely.

A little shimmer strategically placed can bring beautiful light to the eyes.

That’s why I’ve been talking all week about placement.

We don’t have to give up the colours and finishes we love.

We may just change how we use them.

What If My Eyeshadow Creases?

This is one reason I love ShadowSense.

It’s a crème-to-powder formula, so I can blend and work with it while I’m applying it.

Then it sets.

And it doesn’t crease.

That’s especially important to me with mature eyelids.

Do I Need Three Shades?

No.

You can create a very simple look with one or two shades.

But I love my easy three-step formula:

BASE → TRANSITION → ACCENT

Once you understand what each colour is doing, creating an eye look becomes much easier.

And as I showed you yesterday, those colours don’t necessarily have to stay on your eyelids.

I used Mulberry as my transition AND my blush, and Rustic Brown as my accent AND eyeliner underneath my eye.

FRIDAY: THE REVEAL

Three Shades. One Complete Look. More Than Eyeshadow.

All week we’ve been talking about how our eye makeup can change as we age.

We’ve talked about placement.

Today I promised to show you exactly what I used.

Meet one of my longtime favourites:

ShadowSense.

ShadowSense is a crème-to-powder eye colour. One of the things I love about it is that I can work with it and blend it while I’m applying it.

Then it sets.

And it doesn’t crease.

For mature eyes, that’s a pretty big deal.

But It’s More Than Pretty Colour

I think of it as:

Today I’ve completed the look using the same three shades:

So those three little tubes did a whole lot more than create an eyeshadow look.
