🌿🌱🪴Who loves growing their own herbs? 🙋🏻‍♀️ ((I’m gonna leave that one right there...🤔))⠀

For me growing my own herbs to use in my cooking is probably one of my favourite things! I find it so therapeutic to tend to and then so delicious when I use them in dishes. My husband knows me too well cause when he sees me stepping out the back door he’ll comment “are you going to forage some herbs?” 😂 ⠀

At the moment I have a few organic herbs on the go — Rosemary. Sage. Chocolate mint. Thyme. Spanish onion. Chives. Basil. Hot banana peppers. Pimento peppers. ⠀

So my chive blossoms were ready to pick. ☝🏼Don’t let the blossoms go to seed or else you won’t be able to use them for something yummy. You can throw them into dishes, into salads, frittatas or even dressings. ⠀

I decided I would make a chive blossom vinegar. Sounds delish, right? 🤤 Super easy to do. ⠀

1️⃣ Pick your chive blossoms just as they’re fully bloomed. Basically cut down about half of the chive stem including the blossom ✂️ ⠀
2️⃣ Rinse everything in cold water incase there’s any bugs 🐜 ⠀
3️⃣ Chop off the blossoms and pack them into a glass container. Add the stems too as they’ll add more flavour. ⠀
4️⃣ Top stems and blossoms with vinegar (white, champagne, apple cider, etc). I used rice wine vinegar. ⠀
5️⃣ Cover the jar with a lid and place in a cool, dark area for 2-4 weeks to let the magic happen. I chose in between my hubby’s Ketel one 🤫⠀
6️⃣ Once it’s ready you’ll see the vinegar take on a pinkish-purple colour. Drain out the vinegar into another glass jar and discard the stems and blossoms. ⠀
7️⃣ Bon appetit!!

HAPPY JUNE FOLKS ☀️⠀

I truly believe that we all want to be healthy at the end of the day, but the challenge lies in where do we begin? Healthy to me is about a mindset, thoughts, behaviours, boundaries, community and of course the nutrients we fuel our body with. ⠀

Instead of dreading cutting out our favourite comfort foods, counting calories or deciding on what to change first, Let's just keep it SIMPLE and start here:⠀

✴️ Be sure to surround yourself with people who make you happy, those who you can feel yourself around and those who encourage you unconditionally with no judgement. Toxic relationships are unhealthy and fuel negative thoughts and behaviours, both which do NOT serve you. ⠀

✴️ Involving yourself in your community in any capacity is nourishing for your soul and spirit. By all means get involved on a bigger scale if you can, but if you can't then there are so many other ways to. Why not begin at home in your own neighbourhood? Start with lending a helping hand to a neighbour. ⠀

✴️ This is the part where many of us feel we need to join a gym or run a marathon. Regardless if you have 5 mins or 5 hours to spare in a day, just make the time to move, move, move. Dance around your kitchen, go for a walk, get out in the garden - do ANYTHING that doesn't resemble being a potato on the couch. ⠀

✴️ And of course one of my favourites! The nutrients we choose to fuel our body with sets the stage for how our body, mind and spirit feel day in and day out. Stop stressing about needing to cut this and that out, making more smoothies or no more popcorn and wine. Just start with increasing your veggie, fruit and water intake. Don't focus on how much to have. Just have even more than what you're already consuming. All too often we focus on what we can't have. How about we turn it around and focus on what WE CAN HAVE! ⠀

What does being HEALTHY mean to you???⠀

🚨🚨 RED LOW LIGHT LEVEL THERAPY 🚨🚨⠀

Yup, you read that right! Using low light level therapy has been shown to be beneficial for:⠀

❇️Reducing pain and inflammation ⠀
❇️Boosting collagen production ⠀
❇️Reducing fine lines and wrinkles⠀
❇️Speeding up healing process after injury/surgery ⠀
❇️Treating acne, eczema and psoriasis ⠀

I recently integrated low light therapy (blue, red and infrared) into my practice as it's a great addition to acupuncture when treating pain, inflammation, skin concerns and anti-aging. ⠀

The low light level therapy can easily be added to any treatment plan as it only takes 30 mins. During the treatment patients can just lay comfortably on the table, relax to some meditation music and focus on their breath work as the light therapy does it's job. It's most effective when doing 2 treatments per week. The number of treatments will depend on what concerns are being addressed. ⠀

Because the blue, red and infrared lights pe*****te the skin at different levels, it is completely different from UV light and does not cause skin damage. Patients have reported feeling a slight warmth of the skin as if they were on vacation and on a beach, but mostly just an overall relaxing & tranquil experience. ⠀

Who's ready for some light therapy in their life??? ⠀
