Tamil Hindu Weddings can constanly feel like a race against the clock with all the auspicious timings and traditions you have to abide by. Especially during koorai change. As a bridal artist dressing south indian brides for over 14 years now, here are a few tips I've picked up over the years than can help create a smooth and easy koorai change on your big day. 1. Pack everything required for the change into a designated small carry on bag. 2. Plan your looks ahead. Avoid having to make any "this or that" decision on the day of. 3. For a calmer koorai change, have only your artist & maybe one other person present during your koorai change. Have other family/bridal party wait outside the bridal suite. 4. Opt to wearing one underskirt/petticoat in a neutral shade to save time. 5. Remove all tags off your clothes/jewellery before wedding day. 6. Make sure your MUA/drapist knows where the bridal suite is (worth dedicating an individual to stay in touch with your artist on the day to coordinate this if the bridal suite isnt easily accessible) 7. Make sure your artist arrives to your bridal suite before you to set up everything they need. 8. Speak to your priest and/or planner to find out when they think they will have you ready to leave the mandap for your change so you can coordinate this with your artist. 9. Allocate a minimum 20-30 minutes for your look change. Speak to your artist to find out how long they need as it may very artist to artist. 10. Don't forget to bring all the boxes and packaging needed to put away the accessories and clothing from your manavarai look.
