Four months of grow-out and this is exactly what I love to see — soft, blended regrowth with no crazy demarcation line.

My guest wanted something a little more diffused this time, so I went heavier through the front to create that money piece, then finer through the back for more diffusion and a softer grow-out. Lots of face framing layers to complete the color.

I’ll see her again in December for a partial highlight + toner for a little refresh, then in another 3–6 months for a full set.

This one was THREE years in the making.

When my guest first contacted me three years ago, she had years of red colour in her hair and wanted to go lighter. I told her she had a choice: length or colour. Trying to push her hair lighter at that point would have meant sacrificing the length and health she wanted so badly.

She chose length — and committed to growing every bit of that red out.

I’m so proud of her patience and determination because today we FINALLY got to do it. 🙌

Sometimes the best colour transformations are worth the wait. ❤️

My guest came in today wanting highlights, but after taking a closer look at her hair and talking about her goals, I decided lightening wasn’t the best option.

Her priority was maintaining her length while getting her hair as healthy as possible, and sometimes that means knowing when not to lighten.

Instead, I suggested a colour that complemented her skin tone, made her blue eyes pop, and most importantly, maintained the integrity of her hair. The result? Richer colour, healthier-looking hair, and no unnecessary damage.

Sometimes the best transformation isn’t about going lighter—it’s about choosing what works best for the hair in front of you. Win-win!
