Have you ever had maskne?
Maskne is caused by friction from wearing a mask. It can lead to irritation, inflammation and even acne by keeping sweat, dirt and oil in under a moist environment. Your mask can also trap things on your skin. This is why skin care is so important to prevent maskne!
Products to treat maskne
Charcoal Exfoliating cleanser at night with gentle beads. If you don’t know why I recommend exfoliating at night please scroll down and read my post on skin care.
Use a different cleanser in the morning like a gel one, or a light cream cleanser. I recommend Stone crop Gel Wash.
Masques to use between washing and toning and moisturizing are Balancing Masque Duo
Charcoal T- zone Purifier/ Pomelo Cheek Treatment also the Stone Crop Masque.
Last, moisturize your skin using a light to medium texture. Some of my favorites are; Rose hip for sensitive or reactive skin and the Stone Crop Moisturizer.
Your skin will improve and feel healthier when you wash and teat it effectively everyday and don’t forget to wash your reusable masks everyday.

Lip Care
Lip care is important especially with changing seasons. Our lips tend to dry out more in the winter and the following products will help in making your lips look and feel great.
To exfoliate the dead skin off your lips I recommend Young Living Poppy Seed Lip Scrub. It is made with essentials oils and natural ingredients. Exfoliating will help your Lip Balms work better.
Mint Balm, Cherry Balm and Barrier Balm by Glo are great products for moisturizing lips. They go great under lipstick or lip-gloss. These products include ingredients like botanical of h**p seed butter and meadow foam and mango seed butter that help to soothe and heal dry cracked lips.
Keep your body hydrated from the inside out and drink lots of water to help hydrate lips. Consuming Oatmeal can help with dray cracked lips as they are high in vitamin B Complex.

Hand care
We are frequently handwashing more these days to stop the spread of germs and viruses. Hand care is even more important today.
1) Cuticle oil helps moisten dry cuticles, hangnails and can help prevent artificial nails from lifting. I recommend Young Nails Rose oil.
Rub oil around cuticle and underneath your hyponychium (underneath the top of your nail)
2) My favorite hand cream is Spa Ritual Citrus Cardamom Hand Salve. It takes three times to wash off. The reason why I love Spa Ritual products they are gluten free, organic, cruelty and vegan free.
3) Manicures can help with hangnails, dry hands and exfoliation. Your manicurist uses professionally based products and tools that can aid in your hand care.
4) My favorite hand sanitizer is Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier by Young Living because they are not sticky or drying.
If you don’t look after your hands and treat them you can get infections in your hangnails. Plus, you use your hands everyday for multiple jobs and they deserve some care!

Skin care routine steps
Step 1- Cleanse
(Twice a day morning and evening)
Select a cleanser for your skin type. If you don’t know your skin type please read my previous post.
Put a small amount of cleanser and emulsify with luke warm water. Apply in a circular motion, covering the entire face for 30 seconds. Remove with a damp, clean face cloth as this helps remove the dirt, pollution, impurities and prepares your skin for the next step.
Step 2- Tone
(Twice per day morning and evening)
Choose a toner suited to your skin type. Use a small amount of toner on a cotton pad and apply over the entire face and leave on. Toners are important to balance the natural ph of the skin and to infuse the skin with natural vitamins and minerals. Your skin will feel rejuvenated.
Step 3- Exfoliate
Choose an exfoliate suited to your skin type, I recommend exfoliating at night only. It is important to exfoliate the skin at least once or twice per week to help remove dead skin cells and dirt that can dull your complexion. To exfoliate, first cleanse the skin as in step 1 and allow 5- 10 minutes to dry. Use a face cloth moistened with luke warm water to gently scrub using a circular motion. Rinse thoroughly with water proceed with step 4.
Step 4 – Masque
I recommend doing this step also at night (once or twice per week)
Clay/ mud masks – For oily, acne not for dry skin types.
Cream mask- Are rich and creamy re for dry skin types.
Find a masque suited to your skin type or the condition that you are treating. Emulsify a small amount of masque in your hand with a few drops of water and apply evenly over the entire face and neck area also the decollete if desired. Allow the masque to dry for 5-10 minute’s. Use a face cloth moistened with luke warm water. Proceed with step 5.
Step -5 Treat
(Daily or as required)
Treat
Specific skin care concerns such as lack of firmness, acne or rosacea, with a target treatments, serums, booster serums, concentrate or oil. Use combination of treatment to enhance your skincare and get dramatic results.
Step 6- Moisturize
(Twice per day morning and evening)
Hydrate and soften the skin with a moisturizer suited to your skin type even oily skin needs a light moisturizer to keep skin soft and supple.
Step 7- Eye care
(Twice per day, morning and evening)
Using a gentle tapping motion apply, a small amount eye cream to the cream to the contour area around the eyes, taking care with the delicate skin around the eye area.
Step 8 – Protect
(daily or required)
Use a SPF 25 sunscreen for your face

What’s your skin type?
Why you should know your skin type? It will dictate what kind of products to use in in morning and at night. Skin care products can be thick or thin depending on the season, age and your skin type. You can also be a combination of one or more skin types.
Skin types
Dry Skin- your skin feels dry and tight and sometimes you can see flakes on your cheeks, chin and forehead. Fine lines may be present around your eye and lip contour. It’s important to use moisture rich products. Weekly moist ring masques will keep your skin soft and supple and will reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Normal – combination skin
Your skin has an even tone and is not overly dry or oily. From time to time you may experience oiliness on your chin, nose and forehead or dryness on your cheeks, lips an around your eye contour area. To keep the condition of your skin even and toned a good skin care routine including cleansing and moisturizing is a must.
Oily Skin- your skin is shiny, has visible pores and prone to spots and blemishes. It is essential to recognize that oily skin can also be sensitive, so it is important to avoid harsh products which claim to dry out the oiliness. Oily skin has the benefit of not showing fine lines easily. However, it needs to be maintained to prevent break outs and to control shine.
Sensitive Skin – Your skin is delicate with fine pores, is often irritated and is prone to redness. Sensitive skin is often genetic and can also react to poor diet, changes in weather, hormonal imbalance and certain cosmetic products. Sensitive skin must be treated with gentle and soothing products to heal and relieve symptoms.
