This is honestly really hard for me to share, but due to the Northwood fire, my salon has been forced to close and I’m currently out of a place to work. The realization of this has been incredibly overwhelming.

We are coming together as a community and hosting a fundraiser for all 5 affected businesses on May 11th from 5-8pm at the Hart Mall parking lot. It would mean so much to see familiar faces and support each other during this time.

A friend also created a GoFundMe to support me while I navigate and take steps toward rebuilding. If you feel comfortable contributing or even just sharing it would make a big difference right now.

I wanted to give everyone an update after the fire at the plaza.

I am incredibly grateful to share that my shop was one of the lucky ones. Thanks to the firewall and the quick, hard work of the firefighters, my space is still standing and my belongings seem to be okay.

Unfortunately, the building itself has significant damage, and with no power or water, it will likely be a couple of months before I’m able to return.

In the meantime, I am actively working on securing a temporary location so I can continue serving my clients as soon as possible.

I appreciate your patience and support while I get everything set up, and I will share details as soon as they are confirmed.

I also want to acknowledge that many other small businesses in the plaza were not as fortunate. This has been devastating, and the reality is that recovery takes time....insurance can take months, and for many, income has stopped immediately. Owning a small business is not something that makes people rich; it is something people build with a lot of hard work and heart.

To help support those affected, a fundraiser is being held on May 11th for the small businesses impacted by the Northwood fire. Relocation, rebuilding, and even temporary setups come with significant unexpected costs, and any community support during this time truly makes a difference.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, offered help, and shown kindness. It means more than I can say right now.

I honestly don’t even know where to begin…

Seeing the shops around my business looking like they’ve burned down is something I can’t fully process yet. It’s heartbreaking, I stayed there and watched.... My space appears to be okay from what I can tell, but I haven’t been allowed inside yet as firefighters have not deemed it safe. So right now, everything feels uncertain and up in the air.

I’ve contacted insurance, but as many of you know, that’s a long process. I’m trying to stay patient, but it’s hard not knowing what comes next.

I am incredibly thankful to the firefighters who worked so hard to save what they could 🙏 especially the contents inside my space. At the same time, my heart is so heavy for everything and everyone around me that wasn’t as fortunate. This is such a devastating situation for so many.

I truly don’t know what the future holds right now. I’m not rushing into anything, but I may need to start looking for a new space. If anyone happens to hear of anything, please keep me in mind.

I also want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has reached out, offered temporary spaces, support, and kind words. It means more than I can even put into words right now.

I’m hurting, I’m overwhelmed, and I’m worried… but I’m still here. And somehow, we will move forward.
