Another fabulous Fall day!! It’s Customer Appreciation Day at Quesnel Farmers Market - stop by and enter the draw!

We’ve only been open for 45 minutes but all the grab bags are gone - but hoping to have more for next week - (weather premitting!!).

Workshop clean out time!!! I have a mountain of well cured end cuts and older soaps and odd and sods that I will be bringing Quesnel Farmers Market tomorrow in prepackaged 1 KG bags. They will have some full bars, some end cuts, some ugly soap, some tallow bars (bags with tallow will be marked) - all great soap that may or may not have scent. Limited quantities.

Soapmaking Workshops are open for booking!! I’ve been talking about these classes for a while, and I have finally set the dates.

I am offering 3 different types of workshops this fall.

Soapmaking Experience - a relaxed, beginner friendly class where all the measuring is done ahead of time and your just have to pick you scent and colour and mix the soap up!

Soapmaking Fundamentals — a more in-depth class focused on the science, safety, ingredients and process of cold process soapmaking. This one will have me talking more, but if your goal is to be able to make soap confidently at home, this is the class for you.

Seasonal Soapmaking — themed workshops where everyone follows the same featured design, including our Halloween Mummy Soap and Christmas Tree Soap.

Workshops are approximately 2 hours, limited to 4 participants, and are $75 per person. A $25 deposit reserves your spot.

What an absolutely gorgeous fall day in Quesnel!

If you’re looking for an excuse to get out this morning, come on down to the Quesnel Farmers Market. I’m here from 8:30–1:00 with lots of SharGloMa soaps — and honestly, it’s just a beautiful day to wander the market and visit your local vendors.

And a little heads-up — next Saturday is my last planned QFM of the season. I may sneak back for the final outdoor market on October 17 if the weather cooperates, but next weekend will likely be your last chance to find me at the market this year.

Good morning. I am all set up Williams Lake Farmers Market today from 9 AM until 2:00 PM. Stop by and say hi.

I’ve been making soap since the mid-1990s, and over the years my approach has become pretty simple: good ingredients, a well-balanced recipe, and no magic claims.

Soap is a wash-off product. Its job is to clean your skin, ideally without leaving it feeling stripped and dry. That’s what I formulate for.

I use good oils and butters, and I pay attention to things like lather, hardness, longevity and how the bar feels on the skin. For scent, I use both essential oils and carefully curated fragrance oils, choosing them for the scent profile they bring to the finished bar and for suitability in soap.

But I don’t treat soap like medicine. I don’t claim it will detox your body, balance your hormones, treat illness or somehow change what is happening inside your body. Essential oils may have interesting properties in other applications, but in a bar of soap their primary purpose, as far as I’m concerned, is scent.

Good handmade soap doesn’t need miracle claims to be worthwhile.

It can simply be well formulated, beautifully scented, long lasting, gentle to use and made with care. I’m also very much a soapmaker. Soap is what I do, and it’s where I choose to put my focus.

Fortunately, Quesnel has several really good soapmakers, each with their own recipes, ingredients, techniques and style. Lavender Suds, Earthy Girl Botanica and Katsura Soap Company to name a few, all make lovely soap — and they also offer other handmade products that are well worth checking out.

Different recipes. Different styles. Good soap. No magic required.

It’s Fall Fair weekend in Quesnel!

We’re set up at the Quesnel Fall Fair at Alex Fraser Park with a table full of handmade soap, salt bars, laundry soap and a few other SharGloMa favourites.

Come out for a wander, visit the vendors, see what’s happening around the grounds and enjoy a good old-fashioned local fall fair.
