It's hard to believe you're gone, I can already hear you saying "don't cry my baby, it's ok"

Grandma didn’t just tell me she loved me—she showed me, over and over again, in all the ordinary ways that ended up meaning everything.

She cooked for me, packed my lunches. Cleaned, made sure I was fed, looked after me and made sure I had what I needed.

She stepped into so many of the places in my life where someone else should have been

And I think that is part of why her love felt so powerful to me

I had known a love that felt cold, distant, inconsistent, or simply not there.

Grandma’s love was the complete opposite

Her love was warm, like the old country style breakfasts she would make us.

It was relentless

She didn’t disappear or abandon me when I was difficult, struggling, lost, or making mistakes.

She didn’t make me earn it.

She didn’t hold it over my head.

She just kept loving me

Looking back now, I realize that so many of the things I once thought were just “Grandma being Grandma”—the meals, the clean clothes, the stocked pantry, the checking in, the worrying, the constant care—were her way of telling me every single day:

“You matter. You’re worth taking care of. You ARE loved!”

And she never stopped showing me that

Best advice anytime I was sad, after listening to me she would hum and ha then finally say:

"Well...do whatever makes you happy"

This woman has loved me unconditionally my entire life🤍

When my mom abandoned me, my Grandma stepped in and raised me. She became safety, home, comfort, and the person who made sure I always knew I was loved

Her love never came with conditions. She never asked me to be anything other than who I am. Through every version of me, every mistake, every change, every high and every low, Grandma’s love was always there. No judgment. No conditions. Just love

There is something so powerful about knowing that when someone else walked away, she stayed. She chose to love me, care for me, protect me, and raise me. That kind of love becomes part of who you are

From being the little kid sitting on her lap to now sitting beside her at 101 years old, I’m realizing just how much of me exists because of her love

I love you Grandma, more than I could ever put into words. 101 years of life, and somehow I still wish I could have a hundred more with you🤍
