I have several clients who book in for headache relief. Be it migraines, tension headaches, or whatever their cause, massage therapy can be effective in relieving their symptoms and frequency. This will often include neck and shoulder work, but can also include other areas depending on your headaches, their causes and triggers, and your lifestyle.
If youāve tried massage previously for your headaches and it didnāt work for you, donāt completely write it off. Just like every body is different, so is every massage therapist.
And my clients always say that my neck treatment is the best part of their massage - book in and try it for yourself!

Where it hurts isnāt always where the problem is - thatās why I will always work on more areas than you think you need worked on and Iāll often recommend a longer session for your next appointment. Our bodies are complex and everything is connected, so treating one area and just poking at your sore spots often wonāt resolve what you came in for.
Our bodies are also really efficient, but that also makes them lazy, in a way.. āif you donāt use it, you lose itā isnāt just specific to strength or flexibility in the big mobility ways we think of. Your body starts to take away what youāre not using pretty quickly - when you sit in one position too long and youāre stiff when you get up? Thatās your bodyās adaptation to that position - it starts to shorten muscles by removing sarcomeres (muscle fibre cells) because theyāre not being used and they donāt need the fuel/energy/oxygen/etc. More frequent breaks for even 30-60 seconds a few times an hour, just to wiggle around or stretch and contract muscles in different ways than you typically use them (or donāt use them if you have a sedentary job) throughout the day can make a big difference in how you feel by the end of it.
Booking in for monthly massage therapy appointments helps to maintain your mind and body, keeping you feeling like yourself and helping to prevent pain from taking you out of living your best life. Plan your appointments ahead of time and schedule around them so that you make taking care of yourself a priority. Future you will thank todayās you. š«¶š»

She believes in listening to her clients to determine the best individual treatment, and offers treatments in therapeutic and relaxation massage, along with assessment and treatment in remedial therapy. Her professional interests include chronic pain management and supporting mental health through physical well-being. When she is away from the clinic, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her dogs in the summer and curling up on the couch with a book and her cats in the winter.
