When choosing a spa for your pedicure services, sanitation should always be one of the top priorities.

Many pedicure spas use large jetted foot tubs that contain internal pipes and jets. While these tubs may appear clean on the surface, the internal plumbing systems can be extremely difficult to fully sanitize and disinfect properly between clients.

Even when a disposable plastic liner is used, the liner only covers the basin itself, not the hidden pipes, filters or jet systems where bacteria, skin debris and biofilm build up. Plastic liners can also develop tiny holes or tears that may go unnoticed, which can allow water to come into contact with the tub underneath. These plastic liners covering the jetted foot tubs create a false sense of security, as the parts you cannot see are often the hardest to properly disinfect.

At Ashley Laura Esthetics, client safety and cleanliness are incredibly important. That’s why I use a stainless steel pedicure bowl instead of a traditional jetted spa tub. Stainless steel bowls are non-porous, can be disinfected thoroughly and do not contain hidden plumbing systems where bacteria can accumulate. This allows for a much more controlled and hygienic pedicure experience.
