Hi, I’m Cara, the owner of MopTops Kids Cuts in St. Albert!

I’ve loved hairstyling since I was a little girl playing “hairdresser” with my family. Over the years, that passion grew into a career where I discovered a niche working with kids, especially those with special needs and neurodivergence.

For the past 7 years, I’ve specialized in making haircuts a positive, stress-free experience for children and families. My goal is not just to give great cuts, but to create a welcoming space where every child feels safe, supported, and celebrated.

I absolutely love creating fun clipper designs, lacing intricate braids and fancy updos! Mullets, scissor cuts, bobs and taper fades are just some styles that I especially excel at! My favourite part of any service is the extra special styling at the end!

Welcome to MopTops Kids Cuts, a locally owned and operated, fully licensed kids-catered salon located in St. Albert, Alberta! I am SO excited to finally be up and running my new salon in my home. After a lot of prayer, time, hard work and consideration, I am happy to announce that MopTops is officially open and strives to making a fun, engaging and safe space for kids of all ages, backgrounds and diversities!

MopTops is located in the Woodlands district of St. Albert, right near to the river and right across from the Botanical Garden. Space in the driveway will be reserved for clients during appointment times, and street parking is also available if needed. Please only one client at a time as there is limited parking available.

For stress and worry free visits, MopTops is offering longer appointment times and readily available preparation aides (downloadable and printable social stories and in-depth demonstrations, etc.) If your child is needing extra time, have any special requirements or have any questions or concerns about getting a haircut, please do not hesitate to reach out to me!

MopTops is also proud and excited to offer "Warm Up" appointments in which a child can come in and explore the salon without the expectation of a haircut. Kids are welcome to come in during these times and familiarize themselves with the tools, toys, environment and the stylist, as well as come up with customized strategies for future appointments!

Prices for services will vary depending on age of the child and services provided. Prices are as follows:
Under 11: $27
12-17: $28.50
18+: $30
Bang trim: $10

MopTops also provides extra style services such as:
Tinsel extensions: $3
Braid extensions: $5
French/Dutch braids: starting at $7
Bang braids: starting at $2
Advanced Clipper art: starting at $3

All Haircuts include product, basic clipper art (numbers, lightening bolts, spider webs) as well as sparkles, a hair accessory and temporary hair colour.

Because I do have another full time position working at another company, appointments will be available based on times of the week that I have open. Unfortunately I cannot accommodate walk-ins at this time, appointments must be booked and confirmed beforehand. Payments can be made through e-transfer, cash or by card and receipts can be written out if desired.
