Does Your Finger Get Stuck or Click When You Bend It?

It might be Trigger Finger.

Think of your finger tendon like a rope sliding through a small tunnel. When that tunnel becomes irritated and swollen, the tendon can no longer move smoothly. Instead, it starts to catch, click, or even lock, making everyday tasks frustrating and painful.

What Happens Inside Your Finger?

Repeated gripping, lifting, or tool use can irritate the tendon system
Swelling narrows the space where the tendon moves
The tendon begins to catch during movement
Eventually, the finger may suddenly snap, click, or lock in a bent position

Why Waiting Isn’t Always the Best Option

Many people ignore the symptoms or repeatedly force the finger straight. Unfortunately, this often increases irritation and can lead to worsening stiffness, pain, and reduced hand function over time.

What Helps?

At Lambton Physiotherapy & Rehab, treatment focuses on:
• Reducing irritation and inflammation
• Improving tendon movement and hand mechanics
• Activity modifications to prevent further stress
• Targeted exercises to restore smooth finger motion

Early treatment can often prevent long-term stiffness and may reduce the need for injections or surgery.
