Do you know her?

She is the herb of fierce tenderness.

She finds the mothers,
the caretakers,
the ones whose hearts have been carrying the weight of the world.

She doesn't ask you to become stronger.

She simply reminds you
that you already are.

And if you look closely, or accidentally touch,
you'll find tiny thorns tucked among her blooms-
because even the gentlest plants
know the value of boundaries.

I LOVE ginger tincture. I love that instead of brewing a whole pot of ginger tea, I can easily add a dropperful to my warm water and voila. I've added it to sauces for a bit of a kick, and I even just use it by itself when I need some of that ginger warmth fast! 🫚

You don't need to hike into the mountains or memorize hundreds of Latin names to start learning about plants.🤪

Start with what's already around you.

Look up.
Look down.
Slow down.

Can your family recognize plantain growing through the sidewalk cracks? Wild strawberry peeking out along a trail? Dandelion before it's a puffball? Yarrow blooming in the ditch?

One plant at a time, you'll start seeing your world differently.

Here in Saskatchewan, some beautiful native plants to keep an eye out for include:

🌿 Purple Prairie Clover

You don't have to know everything. Just stay curious. Keep your kids curious.
