As a professional makeup artist and hairstylist with 23 years of experience, I genuinely believed I was neutral or even cool-toned until I was professionally colour analyzed.

When I wore cool tones, I looked tired, drained, dull, and more textured. My skin lost its healthy glow, and somehow I never connected the dots.

I even coloured my hair blue-black, and friends would constantly ask if I was tired. I couldn’t understand why.

I wore black-on-black outfits believing they made me look slimmer, when in reality they made me appear heavier, washed out, and lacking vitality.

The moment I embraced my natural warmth, everything changed.

Today I spent 9 hours behind the chair doing what I’ve loved for the past 23 years. ❤️

I am so blessed to have many long-time clients, and one of them was in my chair today. During her consultation, she brought inspiration photos filled with warm caramel and copper honey highlights. As we chatted, we discussed what would be most harmonious for her natural features—cool undertones and medium contrast.

Together, we decided on a softer, more harmonious colour direction that would truly complement her features rather than simply follow a trend.

For the past 2.5 years, I’ve also been a certified Colour Analyst and have now typed hundreds of women. One of the most valuable things I learned through my training is the importance of colour harmony.

As stylists, we can absolutely create a beautiful trend-inspired look and have a good sense of what will suit someone. But with a trained colour analysis eye, we can go a step further and understand what is actually in harmony with a person’s natural colouring.

After today’s consultation, I felt so grateful to be able to combine my 23 years behind the chair with the knowledge and skills I’ve gained through colour analysis. Helping my clients look and feel their absolute best is truly the most rewarding part of what I do. ❤️
