Follow these 6 steps for communicating with your hairstylist, and you’re guaranteed to get the hair color of your dreams!

1. Show AND Tell ✌️
Bring lots of pictures. If you can’t find a picture that shows the shade you want, try explaining what you like with different pictures, and maybe what you’re not as fond of in others.

2. Be Yourself 🙂
I want to make sure the color we create fits into your lifestyle otherwise it could be stressful trying to maintain. Giving me a clear idea of who you are and what types of things could directly affect your daily life(being a mom, workplace restrictions, upkeep retention) will dramatically affect the end result.

3. Be Realistic ✌️
Know that your hair length, texture, condition and even your age are all factors in what you can and cannot do with your hair color. Sure, nearly anything is possible, but are you really prepared for the many, many visits it would take to lighten your long dark brown hair to light blonde…and keep it that way? Probably not. I will tell you what’s doable and what isn’t.

4.Be Aware of the Condition Your Hair Is In ✌️
Hair color contains so many conditioning and nourishing ingredients, it’s almost healthier to color your hair than not. Almost. Hair color is still a chemical treatment that alters the structure of your hair in order to change the shade, so if your hair is starting out damaged, there’s only one way to go.
If I feel that your hair isn’t healthy enough for the color you want at this point in time, just be patient while we take the necessary steps to get the integrity back.

5.Don’t Keep any Secrets 😫
Full disclosure about prior chemical history is critical for me to formulate your color properly. Are you sure last summer’s Manic Panic or box color is completely grown out and not worth mentioning? Mention it anyway. Maybe you had hilights a few years ago, and now it’s dark— it’s still under there!

6. Be Clear About the Future 🍒
Discuss how long you can expect your color to last, how often you will have to come back to the salon to keep it up and how much that will cost $$.
