The Sternocleidomastoid muscle aka SCM also known as the strap muscle. ⁣
⁣
Conditions of the SCM can include neck stiffness with reduced mobility especially with neck rotation. ⁣
⁣
Poor posture, especially Upper Cross Syndrome, sleeping on your stomach with head turned to the side, whiplash, anxiety, shallow breathing can all be causes for SCM pain. ⁣
⁣
Over time, if the muscle remain’s in a shortened or tight position, trigger points can develop. Trigger points are hyper-irritable spots found in tight muscles that produce pain both locally and in a specific referral pattern. ⁣

Tripper point referral pain can be felt around the eyes, in the ear, forehead, top of head, back of head, temples just to name a few. ⁣
