My lease for Shear Beauty is set to expire at the end of September and unfortunately the company I lease from needed to drastically increase the rate. (commercial leasing is very different from residential rentals) So I hit the town to find a new spot and came up dry. Its really hard to find a good space with affordable rent, in an ideal location and with good parking options IN Simcoe. Then before absolute panic set in, the commercial realtor I was working with mentioned he knew Paula the owner of Teazers and she was ready to sell the business after 16 years. So after a couple meetings we agreed I'd be the new owner of Teazers and move over the Shear Beauty girls. We will have 8 hairstylists all together. Jackie, Amber, Maddy and Jaelynn from Shear and Paula, Lisa, Tanya and Suzie from Teazers. I'm so sad we couldn't bring Jess, but she'll be around the corner! I will be totally redoing the new salon space and rebranding under a new name as we join together. All the stylists are and will remain independent hairstylists, meaning they all have their own hours, menus and policies. And although we won't have a private parking lot right out front anymore, we are a very short walk away from the Argyle St Parking lot, which always has ample parking and 48 hr time limits. I'm as nervous as I am excited about this change. I love Shear and the space and I've put so much work into it. But I'm also excited for something new, something more affordable and something a little more maintainable as I feel my priorities as a business owner have certainly changed since I opened Shear 8 years ago.
