Spent Mother’s Day on the water, in the city, and in a room full of women choosing themselves, and I could not have asked for a better person to share it with than my daughter.
Mel Robbins talked about letting go of what you cannot control and finally directing your own story.
There were favourite spots to revisit and new ones to add to the list, sparkly things to admire, incredible food, and stumbling across some filming.
Days like that are a good reminder that choosing yourself does not have to be a grand gesture, it can look like a ferry ride and a good sandwich.
For the women I work with, that shift toward choosing yourself often starts with something as simple as learning to feel good in your own skin again. It is not vanity. It is a declaration that you are still here, still evolving, and very much in charge of what comes next.

Mother’s Day is coming up and I have gift certificates available for private makeup lessons.

A 2.5 hour, one on one lesson, in her own home. No rushing, no overwhelm. Just focused time learning what actually works for her face right now.

If you know a mom who has been putting herself last, this is a really lovely way to change that.

Send me a message and I’ll send you the details.

Powder is one of those products that can quietly work against you after 50.

If you’ve ever noticed it making facial hair more visible, there’s a reason for that.

New post on the blog explaining what’s actually happening and what I reach for instead. Link in bio 👆

Still using powder the same way you did at 35? It might be exactly why it’s not working anymore.

After 50, our skin changes. It produces less oil, our natural texture shows more, and powder clings differently than it used to. What worked then, can look cakey, dry, or just off now.

The fix isn’t to stop using powder. It’s to stop using it everywhere.

Think of powder as a strategic, targeted product rather than a full face step. Use it only where you actually get shiny (usually the centre of the face), and keep it away from fine lines.

Not all powders are created equal either. Finely milled, translucent formulas sit on the skin rather than sinking into it. And your brush matters just as much as the product.

I’ve linked the powders and brushes I use on my mature clients in my Linktree.

New blog post is live too. Link in my bio.

Powder. Should you still be using it after 50?

This is one of the most common questions I hear from my mature clients. The answer is yes, but differently.

As skin changes, powder can start to cling to dry patches and settle into lines. The fix isn’t to skip it. It’s to use it strategically. Only where you actually get shiny. With the right formula. And a fluffy brush, not a dense one.

This is one of my clients, and this is her result. Natural, fresh, and completely her.

Want to know which powders I use on my mature clients? My ShopMy recommendations are in my bio link.
