We started this little hair experiment in May… and I genuinely wanted to document it instead of just saying a product “works. 👀

We didn’t start an elaborate 10-step routine.

For his hair-care routine, we started with MONAT shampoo only and kept taking photos along the way.

What I can actually SEE comparing May → now:

✨ considerably more retained length
✨ better overall visible coverage as it has grown
✨ smoother + shinier-looking strands
✨ more defined natural texture
✨ the longer hair is giving significantly better coverage through the top/front

And THIS is why I take progress photos.

I’m not going to tell you a shampoo magically cured thyroid-related hair loss or created new follicles — these photos can’t prove that.

Why does red fade SO fast? 🍷

It’s one of the most common complaints with red and copper hair — and there is actual chemistry behind it.

Red colour molecules and the way artificial red pigments behave in the hair can make maintaining vibrant reds more challenging, particularly when the hair is highly porous or previously lightened.

Which means creating the colour is only half the job.

Keeping it means considering:

→ Starting porosity
→ Previous lightening
→ Water temperature
→ Shampoo frequency
→ Heat exposure
→ Colour-safe home care
→ Maintenance appointments

This is also why two people with the exact same colour formula can experience completely different fading.

The canvas matters.
