Grey transitioning doesn't need to be blonde. It needs to blend with the natural tones of the hair.
If a guest isn't 100% silver, and the natural pigment of the hair that still has color isn't blonde, going blonde will never blend, and there will always be a battle against warmth.
ShadesEQ for the win!

To all my clients on the book today and the next few.. just wanted to touch base and let everyone know that with the Paddy's Pond fire my house is right at the beginning of the evacuation alert area, and being the only driver in my home at the moment I can't leave my family to go to work a half hour+ drive away. If the evacuation is ordered while I'm at work I wouldn't be able to get back to them and I simply cannot risk that. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but I have to put my family first. Thank you in advance for your understanding π«Ά

Confessions of a hairstylist: Part 2
β οΈ Warning long post aheadβ οΈ
I've been seeing a lot of posts about "This shampoo made my hair grow!" And I feel it's my duty as a professional to educate so no one falls for a gimmick under false expectations.
The hair grows 1/4 to 1/2 inch per month, 3-6 inches a year, approximately. Some will get 3 inches of growth, some 6 inches, and some in between. There is NO shampoo that will change that, because science.
What a proper shampoo and conditioner (accompanied by regular trimming to prevent split ends) CAN do - FORTIFY the hair, meaning help to make it stronger to prevent breakage so it CAN grow to its potential length.
LENGTH OF HAIR:
Factors the contribute to how long it can grow, again biology. The hair goes through 3 stages of growth (not all hairs are in the same stage at the same time or we would all be bald at some point), third stage is the point right before the falls out (approximately 100 hairs a day), being replaced by a new hair, also known as "fly aways"( reason for keeping your scalp clear of buildup being important, you want that new hair to be able to grow).
The length of the growth cycle is different for everyone, just like the speed of growth is. Some can grow their hair to the butt or further, some can't get their hair below their shoulder blades before it looks thin and wispy. Breakage can absolutely be a factor, as well as diet/ nutrition, among other things, but ultimately the length of your cycle will determine your hairs potential length. The only true way to determine that is to take exceptional care of your hair, AND scalp, and see how far you can get it to grow. Once it starts to get to the wispy point, you will notice more tangles/breakage. Finer hair textures are more fragile than medium and coarse textures and will definitely need strengthening products.
BUT PLEASE remember no shampoo is a magic potion that will make the hair grow faster. It just can't get longer if it's breaking off.
Feel free to message if you have any questions, I'll happily help you find the right regimen for your hair π I just had to get that off my chest haha.

Confessions of a hairstylist: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.
I did a thing.
Bye bye red... again lol
Thank you to Krista for taking care of the parts I couldn't see in the back. There was a lot going on throughout my hair, and tackling red that didn't want to come out wasn't an easy job. Very grateful for your help, not always easy to find time to do each other's hair, but what she accomplished in the time she had made a huge difference.
This process took me almost a full week to complete. Because I tried to do it in a way that I could hide the parts that weren't finished while trying to safely balance the tone through ends that have been lightened, colored over, lightened again multiple times. My goal was to maintain the integrity as best I could not having the same view point for my own head as I would working on someone else π«£ I'm fortunate to have thick enough hair that the crown and sides (which I did last) were able to cover the back, mid-shaft that had the most concentrated red, that had been done first until I could proceed with uncovering old foils so I wouldn't over process them... as best I could.
Angles are everything. Being able to see clearly what you're working with is SO SO important when doing color correction! I'm a professional, but I can't see every angle of my own head, so to go through a color correction on my own head without overlap on parts that didn't need to be lightened is damn near impossible ( again, thank you Krista, I'd definitely have to have a bob without your help). There's a reason why major color changes take so long and cost so much. We want to keep your hair ATTACHED TO YOUR HEAD! What good is it to get to your perfect blonde from dark brown or black (don't get me started on box dye) if most of your hair turns to gum in a pile on the floor. Be prepared to work in stages and live in those stages for a bit while your hair recuperates to maintain strength. If you want it faster, be prepared to pay for it(time and money), and the proper products to help maintain strength and moisture.
Would I have preferred to have a colleague do the whole thing for me? π―%! My hair, although very strong, would be in even better shape if there was enough time to do it. Cooks eat standing, mechanics drive be**er cars, and Hairstylists get their hair done last π€·ββοΈ
Yes, my hair is still mostly wet here, cause honestly it's a lot to deal with to blowdry these days π and, yes, I'm in desperate need of a trim, hairstylist problemsπ swipe β‘οΈ to see my hair transformation journey... not pretty at times π«£
Color appointment just opened up 4:00 today! Call 747-7027 to book! This is the last evening I can work until March 6th!
