I’ve been wanting to share this slide from some of my upcoming webinars to possibly aid you.
Assessment is necessary, and honestly, it can be complicated. It’s important to compartmentalize, break things down, and introduce more each time.
Range of Motion is such a fantastic tool to aid RMT’s, PT’s, AT’s, Chiropractors, etc, in understanding when dysfunction is present, and when dysfunction is causing pain.
What tissue is involved with the activation? Is there pain in that region?
What tissue is being stretched when activation is present? Is there pain in those regions?
If I have the client resist (Active Resisted) that movement, does that change the outcome?
If I assist (Active Assisted) the client does this change?
If I completely take over (Passive Range), does this make a change?
If so, what could that tell me?
This is the argument of why knowing anatomy is so important. What muscle is involved, what nerve innervates said tissue, what joint or ligament am I stretching.
The list can go on and on.
Finally, feedback from the client. If pain was present with movement, you treat said region, then retest, is the pain still present?
This can aid you in understanding more, making changes to treatment and honing your range of motion skills.
Don’t quit, keep trying, make mistakes and learn!
Hopefully this helps!

The time has FINALLY come.
We are back. The home is built, we have moved in and we are slowly settling in.
Now I can focus on researching, writing and editing for upcoming webinars & seminars.
Currently, I have been focusing on the shoulder and the nervous system
Dialogue with several RMT’s, I’ve started noticing I deeper desire to rule in neurological pathologies.
Entrapments
Compression
Lesions
Innervation
I’ll be working on a deep dive into neuropathology, assessment and treatment approaches.
BUT FIRST, shoulder conditions & assessment.
It’s been awhile, I’ve been busy, but it’s so good to be back in the saddle, focusing on my work once again.
Thank you all for your patience and I hope you all enjoyed some photos of the work I’ve done!
Thank you to all the trades that helped make our forever home a reality!
Hopefully I get to see some of you this Fall for some webinars!

About the Instructor:
Caleb Fenton RMT, CSMTA (cc) has over 10 years experience as a registered massage therapist in Manitoba. Early in his career, Caleb recognized a need for massage therapists in his local community to gain a greater grasp on how to assess their clients. Coaching, mentoring and leading study groups, He found that confidence in the aspect of assessment was something RMT’s all desired for a more clinical/rehabilitative approach to practice.
Power of Assessment launched in 2018, having now written 4 articles to the Massage Therapy Canada Magazine, worked with several amateur and professional sports teams, several patient referrals from local doctors, neurologists, physiotherapists and chiropractors.
Caleb has discovered through his heavily assessment based practice the effectiveness of his treatments. Booking up to 6 months in advanced with over 100 on a waiting list, Caleb has personally witnessed the influence of a thorough assessment based practice. His deeper passion is to share his knowledge and understanding of an assessment based practice, seeing how it has changed many RMT’s practices for the better with a rekindled desire to continue to pursue their career of massage therapy as a reliable and respectable source of pain relief for their clients.

Caleb aka .assessment is a practicing massage therapist in Manitoba and we officially met him at the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba’s spring conference. He joined us to talk about his journey into bodywork and why this career was attractive to him, how he decided to shift his mindset about therapy, and how his seminars came to life. Caleb’s approach to treatment lies in his assessment. He built his practice from being so slow that he almost left the profession after 3 years to so busy that he’s booked out for the next 6 months. We talked about public perception, scope of practice, continuing education, and some situations Caleb has found himself in working in sports. Check him out at https://www.powerofassessment.com
