Hey friends!

As some of you may have seen on my stories, I’ve been dealing with a major medical emergency that completely turned our lives upside down.

I’m happy to share that my latest bloodwork indicates my body is beating the infection, and I’m finally able to focus on recovery. However, that recovery is still quite painful and requires heavy medication, so I’d like to give myself another week for my head to clear before I begin reaching out to clients about rebooking.

If you have an appointment booked, please know I haven’t forgotten about you. I’ll be in touch as soon as I’m able to set a firm return date and start getting everyone rescheduled for October.

You’re always welcome to message me, but please don’t be worried or offended if I’m slow to respond. I’m just trying to give my body and mind the time they need to heal.

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and continued support. It means more than you know. ❤️

It’s been almost two months since my last day in the studio 🤯 Time has absolutely flown by in a whirlwind of visitors, diapers, bottles and, of course, the CUUUUTEST arrival of our little Phoebe 🥰

I’m starting to prep for my return to work in October, with the goal of prioritizing my current high-need clients and those I wasn’t able to get in before maternity leave.

I’m still not totally sure if I’ll return to online booking during those first few months, as the number of clients I’m able to take on will be limited. I want to transition back as smoothly as possible while balancing life with babe and my clients’ schedules.

For now, if you’d like to be on the list for my first appointments back, you can use the contact form on my website to reach out. *I might not be replying right away as signal is weak at home and I’m still in maternity mode, but rest assured I will contact you asap as I’m booking spots etc*

I’ll also be taking a few appointments starting in mid-September as I ease back into the studio and figure out our new rhythm. I’ll be posting occasional openings on my stories as well.

I’m so excited to see you all again! 🤍

We did it! 🤍

Our little angel surprised us with an early entrance, arriving 4 days before her scheduled C-section. We’re finally home and soaking up every minute of this precious first week with our sweet girl.

Leo has fully embraced his new role, busily making beds for her and standing guard over his baby. 😂🐾

I know many of my clients have been excitedly waiting for baby updates, but I’m trying not to completely take over the business page (as tempting as it is! 😅). If you’d like to follow along for all the adorable baby spam, I’d love to have you over on my personal page: Heather Elaine (ENVY salon) 🤍

I’ve put it off to the last possible minute. We’ve started having some early contractions and signs that baby is ready for delivery. However, this stage can go on forever. What better way to pass the time then finally catching up with some very belated self-care starting with these super long rootss

It’s official! Full time maternity leave starts today 🥳 As much as I’ve loved the creative outlet and distraction of work, I’m very excited to devote my depleted energy reserves to my family, house & friends. We have lots to do before this little one makes her big entrance in 8 weeks!! Shelby will still be taking Headspa & Massage clients Tues—Sat while I’m off. You can book her via our website in my bio or contact via

I will be officially starting my maternity leave soon as we shift focus to keeping baby girl safe, healthy, and growing strong.

At this time, bookings are now closed. If you are currently booked between now and May 15th, please know your appointment may still need to be adjusted, shortened, split into smaller sessions, or rescheduled depending on how things unfold medically. I will contact any affected clients personally with as much notice as possible.

We may also be required to leave Terrace on short notice for ongoing specialist testing and monitoring, which means unexpected changes are possible. I appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate the next few weeks one step at a time.

Thank you all for the kindness, grace, and support you’ve shown me through this season 🤍

Why this type of correction is the most challenging…

Because nothing is consistent.

Different tones, different histories, different porosity… all sitting on the same head. And if you treat it like one uniform canvas, that’s where things go sideways.

This one had it all:
• multiple layers of blonde with uneven tone
• previous bleach AND a level 6 color sitting through the mids and ends
• very little natural regrowth to work from at the root
• fine hair… but very dense (so… a million foils)
• mineral buildup that had to be removed before lifting safely
• and the biggest challenge… that level 6 banding pushing warmth while the natural hair was lifting completely differently

That combination means everything has to be done in sections with intention.

Different formulas, different timing, constant monitoring… because you’re not lifting one canvas, you’re balancing multiple.

🥹 The final countdown to maternity leave is on, and ENVY Transformation days with results like these make it extra hard to hang up the tools! I am so grateful to have a career that I’ll actually miss & be excited to get back to. We’ve got a few weeks left on the books that I’m eager to conquer, I’ll try to post as many as I can 🥰
New bookings are on hold & current clients are on the waist, and I will be back in the Fall!

Good news 🤍

We’re now back under the care of Dr. Strydom (which is a huge relief for all of us navigating high-risk pregnancies here), and I’ve been cleared to continue with my scheduled appointments in the salon this week.

We are monitoring a few concerns closely, but with my reduced schedule, everything is currently considered safe to continue. As always, things can shift quickly, so if anything changes, I will reach out to any affected clients personally with as much notice as possible.

If your schedule changes, you’re feeling unwell, or you’d simply prefer to reschedule, please don’t feel any pressure at all. I’m so grateful for your support through this, and I’m really looking forward to having you back in my chair this fall 🤍

Waddling my way into month seven 😂
I had every intention of doing a proper photo moment… but baby girl has chosen chaos the last couple weeks, so a mirror selfie and questionable hair it is for now.

She is feisty, which I’m very grateful for. Lots of movement is reassuring… even if it means constant kicks to my spine and feeling like I need to p*e every 30 seconds 😂

We are currently monitoring some changes with her growth more closely, and I’ve been advised to significantly reduce stress and physical demands to support her and keep things stable. So while I’m feeling semi ok, this shift is medically necessary for her safety which is of course, my ultimate priority.

Because of that, I’m starting to phase myself out of the salon. It’s a bit bittersweet, but creating a calmer, lower demand schedule is what’s best for her right now.

For my booked clients, this is my official maternity leave update. I’m doing my best to keep extension and color appointments as scheduled, but I do need to reduce my hours. Each week I’ll be reassessing based on baby’s progress, dr advice, and how I’m feeling, and I’ll reach out directly if anything needs to shift.

If you’re not in a rush, please don’t feel bad about rescheduling or cancelling. And if you have something time sensitive coming up and need guaranteed availability, I’d recommend getting on another stylist’s books sooner rather than later. I have some amazing p*ers I trust who are happy to take care of you while I’m away.

I truly appreciate everyone’s understanding through this. I’m hoping to be back around October and can’t wait to catch up with you all after summer ❤️
