This skin transformation makes me so happy. We focused first on barrier repair and support, and once her skin was strong enough, we introduced a series of peels. We added just one hero product into her routine! She struggles with skin picking, so we worked on breaking that habit.

So proud of her progress and the discipline she’s shown throughout this process 😊

Acne is a journey, not an overnight fix ✨
With consistency, barrier repair, and targeted treatments, visible improvement is possible 🙏

Up next: microneedling to help improve the appearance of acne scarring and refine skin texture.

Acne is rarely just a surface issue. This kind of change comes from treating the skin consistently, while also looking at internal factors like diet and overall lifestyle. I treated her with chemical peels and targeted customized treatments as part of a much bigger process.

✨ 2 months of using my recommended products ✨

We made a few tweaks to her skincare routine, and the results speak for themselves. Her skin is now so much more balanced and healthy - and we’re just getting started. Next, we’ll be focusing on treating any remaining PIE (red marks) to further brighten and even out her skin tone.

Check out the 3rd slide to see what my beautiful client shared with me - it means the world to me. Helping someone feel good in their skin is the most rewarding part of what I do. 💛

Pregnancy-Safe Ingredients:⁣
🌿 Bakuchiol: A plant-based natural alternative to retinol. It offers anti-aging benefits by promoting collagen production and improving skin elasticity without the potential risks associated with retinoids. ⁣

🍋 Alpha Hydroxy Acids: AHA’s exfoliate the skin’s surface, enhancing texture and radiance. They are considered safe during pregnancy in low concentrations. ⁣

🍊 Vitamin C: Brightens the complexion, reduces hyperpigmentation, and supports collagen synthesis. Topical use is safe and beneficial during pregnancy. ⁣

💧 Niacinamide: Also known as vitamin B3, improves skin elasticity, enhances the skin barrier, and evens out skin tone. It is safe for use during pregnancy. ⁣

🧪 Azelaic Acid: A naturally occurring acid found in grains that have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It effectively treats acne and rosacea and is safe during pregnancy.⁣

🧬 Peptides: Short chains of amino acids that serve as building blocks for proteins like collagen and elastin. They help in reducing wrinkles and improving skin firmness, making them safe and beneficial during pregnancy. ⁣

Ingredients to Avoid During Pregnancy:⁣
🌞 Chemical Sunscreens: Ingredients like oxybenzone and avobenzone can pe*****te the skin and may act as endocrine disruptors. It’s advisable to opt for mineral sunscreens containing zinc oxide during pregnancy. ⁣

⚪ Hydroquinone: A skin-lightening agent used to treat hyperpigmentation. Due to its high absorption rate, it’s recommended to avoid hydroquinone during pregnancy. ⁣

🚫 Parabens: Preservatives that can mimic estrogen and have been linked to reproductive issues. It’s best to avoid products containing parabens during pregnancy. ⁣

🧴 Benzoyl Peroxide: Due to limited research on its safety during pregnancy, it’s best to avoid. ⁣

🌙 Retinoids: Some studies have reported birth defects associated with topical retinoid use. It’s best to avoid retinoids during pregnancy.⁣

🌱 Essential Oils: While natural, certain essential oils can be harmful during pregnancy, leading to potential complications. Certain essential oils to avoid are basil, sage, rosemary, thyme, cinnamon, jasmine, peppermint etc. ⁣

A healthy skin barrier is your skin’s first line of defense, protecting against environmental damage, irritants, bacteria, and moisture loss. It acts like a filter - letting in the good while keeping out the bad.⁣

What it locks in:⁣
• Water⁣
• Hydration⁣
• Essential lipids⁣

What it keeps out:⁣
• Pathogens⁣
• Toxins⁣
• Harmful microorganisms⁣

Your skin barrier helps shield you from UV rays and pollution, keeps your skin hydrated, and supports the delivery of nutrients where they’re needed most.

What is an Impaired Skin Barrier?⁣

An impaired skin barrier occurs when the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the skin) is not functioning properly. This means it struggles to protect the skin from external irritants, pollutants, and bacteria while also failing to retain moisture effectively. As a result, the skin experiences transepidermal water loss (TEWL).⁣

Signs of an Impaired Skin Barrier:⁣

• Redness and Sensitivity: Skin may become more reactive to products and environmental factors, leading to irritation, inflammation, and redness.⁣

• Dryness and Flakiness: Difficulty retaining moisture results in excessive dryness and flaking.⁣

• Breakouts or Acne: A compromised barrier can lead to clogged pores or an overproduction of oil, triggering breakouts.⁣

• Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Dehydrated skin is more prone to visible signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles.⁣

• Itchiness and Burning: The skin may feel itchy, irritated, or even experience a burning sensation.⁣

• Tightness and Rough Texture: Dead skin cells may not shed properly, leading to a rough or bumpy texture. The skin can also feel tight, especially after cleansing.⁣

Ways to Repair and Strengthen Your Skin Barrier:⁣

• Gentle Cleansing: Avoid harsh, drying cleansers that strip essential oils. Instead, opt for a hydrating, fragrance-free cream cleanser that is pH-balanced and gentle on the skin.⁣

• Moisturize Regularly: Use a rich, occlusive moisturizer that helps seal in hydration. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and glycerin to replenish moisture.⁣

• Sun Protection: UV exposure weakens the skin barrier, so daily mineral sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) is essential.⁣

• Hydrating and Soothing Facials: Professional treatments can provide deep hydration and help restore skin barrier. ⁣

• Customized Skincare Routine: A personalized routine can help address specific concerns and accelerate healing.⁣

• Avoid Harsh Products: Temporarily stop using exfoliating acids, retinoids, alcohol-based products, sulfates, and fragrances, as these can further irritate a compromised barrier.
