A little throwback to where it all started. In a world where the future comes fast and furious, its nice (and necssary) to look back at how far you've come.

Rendezvous Scents was born out of a desire to work with a medium I was passionate about, and in doing so share positivity and joy to others.

Forests have been a central component of lore and literature for centuries.

Whether haunted, magical, or your garden-variety type free of mythical motifs, forests symbolize mystery in the human psyche. To venture inside is to pe*****te the unknown and risk one’s safety in search of the truth.

Dense foliage, wild animals, and unforgiving terrain are but a few of the challenges a protagonist will face in this coniferous crucible.

Existing outside of civilization, forests are removed from the codes of kingdoms where rational folk reside. Instead, these towering trees are home to the outcast, the bandit, the wanderer, but also to the magnificence and bounty of nature itself.

When was the last time you felt totally immersed in a work of art? Maybe it's a song you've had on repeat, a novel you cant seem to put down, or a favourite recipie you enjoy making week after week. I'm quite interested in this human experience, this intangable phenomenon between art and the perciever. What exactly is happening in our brains and bodies when we're lost in something greater than us? How does interacting with art affect us physiologically?

To some, art is something you see in a gallery; some artifact, sculpture, or painting hung on a wall behind plexiglass and a guilded frame. But can art still be art if it's freed from those conventions? I once read that art isnt the thing that's created, art is what happens in the space between the thing and the viewer. If that's true, then this man is as much a part of the art on display as the art that hangs before him. He is immersed, emeshed, and immoralized forever because I was there to wittness the moment and decide it was art to me.

While I personally love the sort of art you go to a gallery to see, my journey with perfume taught me that art was also something pragmatic, something I couse use and misuse, something I could actively engage with and not passively witness. Artisanal perfume put the art in my hand to dress myself as I saw fit. All of a sudden my day-to-day musings were infused with this invisable artform, my body itself a conduit through which art could be expressed and experienced.

Today my closet houses not only clothes, but a sea of perfumes as well; miniature universes trapped in metal and glass, entire stories folded into themselves until atomized. I am the gallery, this skin is my canvas, and each day I get to choose which art I display on my walls.

This is perfume and these are it's stories. Until we meet again...

The flagship Frederic Malle store in NYC was such a dream. I was smitten by this dynamic display of curves, light, and wood like golden honey. At the time, Synthetic Jungle was the hot new release, so despite the warm glow the entire place smelled like an enchanted garden full of lush greenery both fresh and spicy.

The service was exceptional, as expected. What was unexpected was their reserve collection of discontinued scents which I was delighted to try. Among them was my personal favourite Malle release to date, and maybe even my favourite vanilla perfume period. The incomperable, the exquisit, the WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DISCONTINUE THIS MASTERPIECE...Dries Van Noten.

A rich and mature blend of Saffron, Sandalwood, and Vanilla, Frederic Malle's DVN sits at the tipity top tier of my fragrance collection, figuratevly speaking. The blend is as smooth as velvet, rich and almost custard-like, but never fully gourmand. the Sandalwood is both creamy and spicy which acts as the perfect middle ground between rich vanilla and tantilizing saffron. All three notes also happen to be some of the most expensive raw materials to harvest...maybe this was the reason for its discontinueation. All I can say is if youre able to get your hands on a sample, its well worth seeking one out.
