During hair straightening,two key factors are always working together — the strength of the active ingredient and the flat iron temperature.

The balance between them determines the final result of the procedure, its safety, and the longevity of the effect.

Temperature should always be selected individually — based on the hair structure, level of damage, hair thickness, number of cuticle layers, cortex density, and the formulation being used during the service.

More and more often, we work with weakened, porous, internally damaged hair that cannot tolerate high temperatures the way it once could.

That is why a stylist should not simply “know temperatures,” but learn how to truly see the hair, understand its reaction, and work within the correct temperature range.

Hair should feel as “comfortable” as possible during the procedure.

If the structure cannot tolerate the temperature, it must be lowered.
Do not force the hair to fit a template — adapt the technique to the actual condition of the hair.

It is especially important to consider hair thickness:

Fine hair overheats internally much faster due to having fewer cuticle layers and a smaller cortex volume, while dense hair heats more superficially and requires a completely different approach.
