don’t forget to apply your sunscreen today! here are some thoughts on my sunscreen collection:

Purito centella green level unscented sun SPF 50+ PA++++ — my HOLY GRAIL! this is a chemical sunscreen which i prefer, since chemical sunscreens don’t leave a whitecast. it is essential oil free, moisturizing, and not sticky. this also doesn’t pill under makeup which is GREAT. the only thing is that it takes a while to rub in and might feel too heavy for some, but i personally really like the texture. i’ve already repurchased this and will continue to do so. 9/10.

Kinship self reflect SPF 32** — a mineral sunscreen. it has a strong vanilla scent which kind of bothers me. if it was more faint, i wouldn’t mind. i’m not a huge fan of this sunscreen since it’s really heavy and leaves a slight whitecast on me. it just feels like it’s sitting on top of my face and i hate that. would not repurchase, and 4/10. at least the packaging is pretty 🥺

ATOMY sunscreen SPF 50+ PA+++ — not a fan. this is a chemical and mineral sunscreen. leaves a noticeable whitecast and feels heavy on my face. there is a beige version which is better and that’s the one my mom likes. i would not repurchase this. 4/10.

Supergoop glow screen SPF 40** — a chemical sunscreen that leaves no whitecast! this is called glowscreen for a reason!!! it makes my skin look SO GLOWY (borderline greasy tbh since my skin gets oilier in the summer) so i wouldn’t wear it on its own but looks amazing under makeup!! this sunscreen comes out with a beige tint but it rubs in nicely. idk if i’d repurchase this since it’s kinda inaccessible in canada and a lil pricey, but it gets a 6.5/10.

Supergoop defense refresh (re)setting mist SPF 40** — LOVE THIS. it makes reapplying so easy and i love that it’s water resistant. smells a little like peppermint which i don’t hate, but it does sting if you get it too close to your eyes. even tho it’s a lil pricey, i would definitely repurchase. 8/10.

Keepcool_official soothe bamboo sun essence SPF 50+ PA++++ — love the packaging and high level of protection. this feels like a lightweight lotion and blends in so easily! it’s really moisturizing and doesn’t leave a whitecast. however, it does pill a little when i’m applying makeup. for that, it gets an 8/10. i would probably repurchase this.

MISSHA 미샤 soft finish sun milk SPF50+ PA+++ — again, great level of sun protection but this product just is not it. it’s really liquidy which i don’t haaate, but makes controlling the product much harder and following the 3-finger method more difficult. i’ve already posted a review on this a few months ago, but i find it more drying now(from the alcohol), and the pink “tint” more noticeable. i would not repurchase this. the old rating was 7/10 but now it gets a 5/10.

What is Toner?

I’m sure you’ve seen it around but for anyone who is new to skincare, toner is meant to be used after you cleanse and before serums/moisturizer. There are many different kinds of toners out there that serve different purposes! For example, they can be used to exfoliate the skin, soothe, or hydrate! This is my small toner collection and I love them all, so I wanted to share a little information on them.

etude house soon jung pH 5.5 relief toner — while this toner might look like water, don’t let it fool you! it does much more!!! this toner is made of minimal ingredients and aims to hydrate, refresh and balance your skin. i think this is suitable for all skin types however it might not be hydrating enough for those with really dry skin.

FarmacyBeauty deep sweep 2% bha pore cleaning toner — i recommend this for combo/oily skin. this is an exfoliating toner and is meant to help with pores, oiliness, and uneven texture. i feel like this is gentle enough for my sensitive skin and is not irritating at all! i use this 2-3x a week at night and my skin texture feels smoother immediately after use!

LANEIGE Canada cream skin toner & moisturizer — i definitely preferred this during colder months. i’d recommend this for normal/drier skin types. it sinks into the skin very well and feels very hydrating and moisturizing. i would describe the texture as something similar to milk. this was also great for soothing my skin. it’s a little pricey in my opinion, but i would definitely repurchase it.

First Aid Beauty ultra repair wild oat hydrating toner — this would be best for combo/normal/dry skin types. it has a thicker liquid formula to provide that extra boost of hydration. this is also very soothing and helps calm down my irritated skin. my skin is usually combination but gets more dry since it’s colder now and this has been a lifesaver!
