With the weather finally warming up, please remember to Practice Safe Sun ---

Wear your Sunscreen!!

Even if you aren't going outside for long. A small amount of sun exposure (10mins) is enough to damage the skin.
If you are trying to reverse aging, this is the ONLY way to maintain results!

It's just another Manic Monday...

Stress causes tight muscles, through the body and the face too! Tense facial muscles lead to deep folds - forehead lines, crows feet (from squinting), and the '11' between the brows (from furrowing).
Take time to massage your face cream into the skin, do deep breathing and relax your facial muscles before bed.
Let your jaw go loose. Be careful of your expressions throughout the day. Sleep 8 hours a night.

All of these things will lead to less aged looking skin. Enjoy your beauty!

☀️The sun is out in full force already ☀️
Sunscreen Smarts for Summer

First and foremost, WEAR SUNSCREEN!!

There are two types of sunscreen - ones with chemical active ingredients and those with 'physical' active ingredients. Chemical sunscreens usually contain words you can't pronounce (or look that way), where as physical SPF uses zinc or titanium oxides.

Chemical SPF must be given time to absorb into the skin (apply half an hour prior to exposure) and only give a limited time of protection. How much time? Here's how to calculate it - how long it normally takes you to burn multiplied by the SPF of the product. To keep it simple, and because everyone starts to receive cellular damage after 10 minutes, I'll use 10 mins as the example - using an SPF 30, one would have about 5 hours of protection. (30x10=300\60=5 hrs).
This means if you are out and about at 8 AM you will only have until 1pm before you NEED TO REAPPLY. The tricky thing with chemical based sunscreens is, when you reapply, the effectiveness is cut in half! So then you only get 2.5 hours extra. This will cover you until 3:30, then you NEED TO REAPPLY. Next application gives 1 3/4 hrs, etc. so it is quite literally impossible to be out ALL day and still be protected!!

Physical sunscreen is different as the active ingredients don't pe*****te the skin - the form a protective barrier ON the skin, reflecting the suns rays away. They do need to be reapplied as well, but only after sweating, swimming or wiping them off. When you do reapply, they have just as much effectiveness as the first application.

Antioxidants - your free radical fighting friends.

Antioxidants are said to do everything from prevent wrinkles to holding off cancer to easing joint pain. That's great to know, and what does it really mean??

Anti oxidants fight free radicals - also good to know and what the heck are free radicals?

Free radicals are 'angry oxygen molecules', or oxygen molecules that have lost one of their ions. When the ion is damaged or missing, the molecule tries to replace it, taking one from a surrounding healthy cell. That new cell is then missing an ion, and takes one from a neighbouring healthy cell. This doesn't sound so bad, until one considers what CAUSES free radical damage - sun exposure, stress, smoking, alcohol, pollution - and the list goes on.

To ensure proper health and 'optimal performance', one must eat a balanced diet, drink PLENTY of water, and have a daily dose of antioxidants. There are many of them, all of them delicious, and if you don't like fruit or veggies, even meat has some (though far smaller quantities).

The goal should be to eat as colourful a diet as possible (and I mean naturally coloured!) or take antioxidant supplements.

Antioxidants = anti aging
Start preventing now!!

☀️PRACTICE SAFE SUN☀️

With the warm weather here, and some actual sunshine with it, I know how tempting it is to go out and lay in the sun. This is a great way to relax and recharge your mind, body and soul.
Sun damage takes year to show on the skin. It can eventually lead to saggy skin and dark spots, as well as deep lines and wrinkles.
It only takes 10 minutes in the sun for the skin to start being damaged!!
If you are using anti aging products, one hour of unprotected sun exposure can undo 2 weeks or more of treatment.
Wear at LEAST an SPF 30 and for most sunscreens, you must reapply!!

Don't let aging win, wear your SPF and protect your skin!

Healthy skin begins within - if you don't eat well, drink lots of water, and don't exercise, your skin will show it!
