One thing about me…I used to spend nearly every summer weekend sleeping in a tent. Lately, I’ve noticed a lot of new faces around here (hello 👋 ) so I thought I’d share a little about how Matter came to be ...

Back then camping was almost every weekend. I was so inspired by nature - the smells of a damp forest floor and what was growing along the trails. I wanted to know the land intimately, and identifying plants and foraging created a connection I deeply craved.

Looking back, I realize that curiosity became the foundation of Matter.

Today I honestly prefer a cottage (and I do like fancy hotels too ;). I can barely read a map anymore and wish I still had that skill. But I still love to wild harvest and I’m now enjoying gathering and making things from my garden.

And nature still inspires. I’m reminding myself to slow down, notice what’s in season, and savour these small, joyful moments.

This weekend I made elderberry-infused apple juice for the first time and picked the ripening mulberries from the garden.
