As an individual who embodies vitality, sports have profoundly shaped my identity - from conquering mountain bike racing courses to goalkeeping for hockey, a true passion of mine. Yesterday, while making a crucial save on the ice, my momentum took an unfortunate turn when I caught a rut, landing with full force on my left arm. The result was a fracture of both the radius and ulna in multiple places, with my hand displaced. Despite this setback, conversations with my orthopaedic surgeons have led to a plan for surgery next week, with a projected return to the clinic in four to six weeks. Over the next four weeks, my primary focus will be on maintaining the health of my tendons, mobilizing my muscles, and ensuring my shoulder girdle remains mobile. I'll be sure to share valuable post-surgical care recommendations as I progress. To my patients who've endured my sports-related absences, I express heartfelt gratitude for your understanding and patience; your loyalty has enabled me to build a beautiful practice here in Toronto.

Rest assured, each challenge informs my practice, making me a more adept therapist. While aging and playing sports comes with its risks and rewards, my fervor for hockey and sports will forever surpass my apprehension about injuries. With resilient bones and unyielding determination, I'll work tirelessly to return to the clinic, stronger and more dedicated than ever.

Sports Injuries Happen — Recovery Matters Just as Much as Your Training

Whether you’re an athlete or just starting a new fitness routine, sports injuries can strike when you least expect them. Muscle strains, tightness, inflammation, and overuse injuries are all too common.

Massage Therapy and injuries go hand in hand. Massage therapy aids by:

-Relieves muscle tension and spasms

-Improves circulation to support faster healing

-Reduces inflammation and pain

-Enhances flexibility and mobility

-Preventative for possible future injuries

Whether you're recovering from a tough workout or managing an injury, regular massage therapy can be a game changer for performance and overall well-being.
