Happy anniversary to two of my favourite people in the whole world. If you know me, you know my brother is my rock. Our bond has only grown stronger over the years, and distance has never changed that—we still talk almost every day. Hard to imagine that could get any better, right? Enter Denise. If I could have dreamt up the perfect woman for him, she would have had nothing on Denise 🩷

Your love story—and everything you’ve overcome, both separately and together—is something I admire more than I can put into words. The strength, patience, and deep respect you have for one another shines through in the life you’ve built. It’s not just beautiful—it’s inspiring, and you both deserve every precious ounce of this love.

I feel so lucky to have a front row seat to your journey, and beyond blessed to be an auntie to my three favourite little ladies in the whole world.

I am absolutely loving this trend because I have been reminiscing quite a lot lately on 2016 as it was such a special year for me — not only as one of my favourite years, but as the year that completely changed the course of my life.

It began in a whirlwind of creativity and achievement: three magazine covers (2 international!) and five editorial spreads in cherished bridal publications like WedLuxe, Dauphine, and Elegant Wedding. Those pages captured more than beauty — they held the spirit of a season where I felt unstoppable, inspired, and deeply aligned with my craft.

I was blessed to work alongside visionary photographers, stylists, hairdressers, athletes, models, and artists — each collaboration a spark that fueled my love for this industry. I also had the immense honour of serving as a personal makeup artist to two remarkable women, Suzanne Rogers and Eleanor Welsh, whose elegance and strength inspire me to this day. And at the same time I was pouring my heart into teaching at Humber College, guiding young artists toward their own creative dreams.

Then came the moment that changed everything.

In March, I welcomed my first son, Benjamin, and discovered a new kind of purpose. Becoming a mom shifted my entire world. From that balance of ambition and motherhood,
Dawna Boot Beauty was born: an award-winning team of unbelievably talented women with hearts of gold. It has been the honour of my career to share their artistry with our clients — and to build something meaningful, together. So not only will I be celebrating my oldest sons’ 10th birthday this spring, Dawna Boot Beauty will be turning 10 this coming summer. 🩷

🤍A love letter to my friend🤍
There is a strange and tender duality to loving someone deeply—how the heart can be shattered by goodbye while simultaneously brimming with joy for what awaits them. I find myself holding both emotions at once as I process the news that the Face MD will be closing its doors and Sarah and her family will be moving back to England.

Sarah—whom many of you know as .facemd —was the very first friend I made when I moved across the country from Ontario to British Columbia. In a way that feels almost destined in hindsight, fate introduced us before I even lived in Squamish. During our very first trip out west in the summer of 2019, between open houses and hopeful house tours, we ducked into our hotel pool for a moment of rest. And there she was—Sarah and her beautiful family, swimming alongside mine in the Executive Suites pool.

If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting Sarah, you’ll understand the immediate draw I had to her. She is radiant—warm, joyful, effortlessly funny, and deeply inclusive. I left that pool kicking myself for not getting her number, quietly hoping the universe would be kind enough to cross our paths again. And it was. Six months later, once we had officially made the move west, there she was again—this time picking up her son from the very same Montessori I had enrolled Ben in. Six years on, I sit on my couch in tears, writing these words.

Sarah has been so much more than a friend to me. She has been a cheerleader, a sanctuary, a trusted ally. When I became a single mother, she became a pillar—welcoming me and my boys with open arms at any hour, giving us a place to land when we needed it most. She is one of those rare souls who, from the very first meeting, makes you feel known. And whenever you spend time with her, you leave changed—lighter, stronger, better than you were before.

She opened her doors at The Face MD to me, giving me a home for my local and out-of-town clients alike, and she championed my work with a generosity that never asked for anything in return. She spoke my name in rooms I wasn’t in and believed in me with a steadiness that carried me through one of the most difficult chapters of my life. Her heart is one of the largest I have ever known. She is a true girls’ girl in the most meaningful sense—one who wants everyone around her to rise. She created an opportunity for me to meet and work alongside some utterly fantastic and incredibly talented women at and you can check out their instagram page to see their next moves.

And so, while my heart is utterly broken that she and her extraordinary family are returning to the UK, it is also full—full of happiness for the peace this will bring her, for the closeness of family, and for the adventure that lies ahead. I am excited for the life she is stepping into, and selfishly grateful that it now includes reasons to take my boys across the pond. This is not goodbye—but she will, without question, carry a piece of my heart with her when she goes.

As you step into this next chapter, I hope you feel how deeply you are loved, how profoundly you have shaped the lives of those you’ve touched, and how much light you carry with you wherever you go. May this new season bring you the same warmth, belonging, and joy that you so effortlessly give to others. I hope you leave knowing that you are celebrated, cherished, and always held close in our hearts, and we look forward to making more memories together in the future, on your turf 🩷
