At C.O.R.E.
we use what is called a neurofunctional model, which takes into account all the systems in the body, our environment, stress, relationships and any other possible contributing factors in a person's life. This is a holistic model, but it is grounded in science, specifically neuroscience and the various branches of neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, and interpersonal neurobiology. What You Can Expect
E
This is a glimpse into one of our treatment sessions with a Jiu-Jitsu athlete recovering from an LCL sprain.
Our treatment focus for the day was to address the neurological tightness of the gastrocnemius and the medial and lateral hamstring chains. After completing the manual therapy and passive interventions, we transitioned into the gym to integrate active stimuli — teaching the tissues how to tolerate and distribute load.
By emphasizing connective tissue remodeling, load absorption capacity, and mechanoreceptor activation, we aimed to promote structural adaptation through controlled eccentrics and lengthening under tension.
These steps are fundamental in rebuilding a resilient foundation for the joint and its surrounding connective tissues — the essential groundwork before progressing to explosive strength and dynamic loading.

Running Injuries: Common Pitfalls and How to Stay on Track
Running is one of the simplest ways to stay active and build endurance, but it’s not without risks. Knowing what to watch for and how to care for your body can make all the difference.
Some of the most common running injuries include:
● Shin Splints – sharp, aching pain along the inner shin that worsens with activity
● Runner’s Knee – dull ache and pain around or behind the kneecap
● Achilles Tendinitis – stiffness or burning pain in the back of the lower leg to the heel
● Plantar Fasciitis – stabbing pain in the heel or arch
These issues usually aren’t caused by one dramatic moment but rather small, repeated stresses over time. Training too hard, wearing improper shoes, or ignoring early warning signs are some of the usual suspects. Learn more about how to prevent running injuries and how we can help!
